But in order to get a lassie drunk enough for her buckie goggles to see me as a good choice Orwell, she is usually disappearing in the back of an ambulance having her stomach pumped. Mad

Not that I would try to self-promote. Am curious to know what folk think. I'm thinking seriously about getting out and about playing in public again. Been awhile. Missing it. (When you turn 95 you reflect on the things that are important to you).

I was initially attracted to the thread because it REEKS of Peppermint, and even a bit of rasberry, but I really like your songs Orwell!! There very laid back sounding, reminds me of summer sunny

I actually like what you do. There's lots of local pubs near me that host "live band evenings" tho its not just bands, duos or solo singers get up & give it a go. Its a great night out. sometimes you dont know what style of music these people are, you just take "pot luck" but, if you were on stage Im dammed sure Id hang around to listen !! Thumbs Up

That's what I'm thinking. I'm going through my catalog of songs (my first song was written back in 1976!) I'm going to type up the ones I think still bear up - even some of the naieve ones have a charm - and even a certain wisdom - sometimes! Put them in a folder -- and maybe do some busking... Played in a band, done solo work, played around a kitchen table more than once (women especially like that kind of intimacy!) but never busked before. Could be a fine adventure. Very Happy

Scary thought though. pale

Probably would do me good -- hampered with the black dog and anxiety lately... don't kiow why.. I recently landed the easiest job I've had in thirty years! Just getting old and restless, I guess... Sad

Mind you - I've got the will and endeavour to write songs again - which is always the upside of the downside for me. Very Happy

Some of my best nights were spent with buskers. Used to sit with them in Glasgow once all the clubs were out and the drunks had staggered home, 3-4 in the morning, and crash them fags and bring some buckie, and eventually they start playing, not for anyone, just for the pleasure of it- got some brilliant memeories of sitting under the orange glare of the streetlights on cold crisp mornings, blind drunk sharing fags and stories and listening to them play.

Funny how Summer can be melancholy, Tin, but I know what you mean. The best songs uplift you even while making you sad and thoughtful, or even just a bit nostalgic... or happy... Songs should never be anything but obvious (and accessible?) and mysterious (drawing you toward the ineffable?) at the same time... That's poetry. That's music. I don't generally associate with fags... not that there's anything wrong with that! Laughing

You know, maybe I'll do that. Not in my home town though. Not only am I a respectable citizen with a status to keep up - not every drunk who knows me bears me the best will -- especially the violent arsehole* thugs I've charged! Shocked

I should look around a bit -- and maybe busk at a few local folk/blues festivals. Might catch up with some old music associates or supporters. Whenever I see any of them they ask if I'm going to get out and about again. They seem to think work is not a respectable thing, not when compared to getting out and doing one's stuff! Work, kids and life generally often take you away from other things that are instrinsically important to you. That's why Forumshire appeals so much. It's a creative refuge for me. Not that you guys would haven noticed that about me, you all being such slow witted rustic hobbits! Very Happy

A lot of my stuff is in my memory and not on computer - or old copies from old computers (now lost) or typrwriter stuff!!! Grrrrr! But I do like new projects...
