The new series of Doctor Who starts today, UK and America. Now you might think this belongs on the Doctor Who thread but ole GB is fond of his Doctor Who and I hope he can watch the new series. I have a feeling its going to be a cracker and the only thing thats not good about it is I was looking forward to discussing it with GB when it started, especially as unlike last series this one is on in both countries on the same day. I had hoped the Bearded One would have made it back by the time this series rolled round, and now its upon us and my pleasure is lessened with his continued abscence. So wherever you are GB I hope you come back soon and make my Docotr Who viewing perfect again.

Or our future to be accurate. I hope the two of you have not gone a little cold on me? The ol' body clock is ticking; I'm not getting any younger you know. And what with Sunny and Shady Banks' arrival to boost the family stock* I'm feeling most warm and fuzzy. Anyway, a girl can't wait forever. It might expedite things if you two were to do the old fashioned thing - a duel, perhaps?

* I'm not prepared quite yet to add Porgy's brats...err..children to the Banksian list... not that I want to cast doubt over Uncle Wisey's parentage at all... (((Actually, while I'm at it, did Porgy ever mention their names? I'm not sure if she has even had them yet! I'm getting as forgetful as Uncle Odo. )))

I notice that neither GB or Mr Tyrant have responded, Mirabella. I suspect their ardour for you has waned. Perhaps you should look closer to home and forget about these foreign types. Isn't it said that Scotshobbits are rough and vulgar, afterall, and Usahobbits unreliable liberal types? Now, that Toby Longspike is a handsome lad -- and what about Gaffer Oldfart's sons, sturdy young hobbits with the wind in their curls and muck on their hands?

Not at all, not at all. Definitely not, Mr Tyrant! If I admire Mr Freedom it is clearly because he seems to love his country (with quite some passion, it appears) and also has an unabashed manner when promoting that love. Just as I love Down Under (also Rushock Bog below Needlehole, of course, which kind of thing can only happen in Forumshire ), and as I'm sure you love Scotshobbiton (even if some think it is an island, and this against all the available evidence!)

Nor should one compare! The love of one's homeland is imbibed as we imbibe our mother's breastmilk. But so long as we respect other folk --- even Usahobbits and Scotshobbits in my case --- then we can't go too far wrong.
