Terrible uniforms- wheres the eagle!! and the shoulder pad. Fan film gets the look of the comics much better which is worrying. When adapting something visual from one medium to another why change the icon looks that made th eoriginal so recognizable?

Judge uniforms look like this;

And lawmasters like this;

Have you seen stills for the new lawmasters in th emovie- terrible. Why oh why?
At least Judge Anderson is in this and psi division- got her in surely Judge Death has to be the bad guy?

Goodnight Wobbit.

I saw Captain America earlier. Immediate thoughts- its not as USA USA as I had feared it was going to be, they seem to have conciously gone out there way to minimise that with a supporting cast of WW2 allies. Hugo Weaving is the bad guy (although they could have cast anyone for most of it as he is unrecognizable under the makeup). I'm not a big Marvel fan, never have been so I assume I am missing a lot here. The technology seems all at odds for the 1940's. I get they found some super powerful artifact thing but that doesn't explain lots of other things like all the technology used to harness the artifacts power, the weapons made from it or how an aircraft with propellers can get from Europe to near New York iin the blink of an eye. The whole stor felt pretty uninvolving for me, I didnt really care about anyone.
It also has the flatest ending to a film I think I have ever scene.

I take it those are just extras and have not been put back into the films because they look as rough as a badgers underparts.
Still I imagine the thought of unseen Star Wars footage will set Eldo's pulse racing.

While Petty's description is quite apt, he's correct that I'm excited about this. Laughing It's tempting, but even if I had a Blu-ray player, I still probably wouldn't buy the new Star Wars release unless it includes the original, unedited versions of the films. According to Amazon the Blu-ray release doesn't have the originals, which doesn't surprise me since they didn't hit DVD until three years after that initial release. Neutral

I assume that is a milk as much as possible from the fan decision then. A few years ago I bought the Aliens boxset on DVD (am I the only one who thinks next to 1, 3 is the best film?) and each dvd has both theatrical and directors cut on them (after all its the same footage so they just need to put it on so that the extra bits play at the appropriate part you don't need two whole films on the disk) I assume they could easily have done the same given the size of Blue-ray incomparison.
I'd avoid getting it just as a protest Eldo- and besides seeing as they don't seem to have bothered doing anything to the new stuff (some of it looks like rushies) eventually they will turn up online somewhere and it's not like the quality is going to suffer as the quality is shoddy already.

I supsect a con- if they were any good or particularly relevant they would have been on one of the previous numerous editions. Lucas is just chancing it again and trying to dip your pocket- probably because he can't make a decent film anymore (as the last 3 star wars films demonstrate admirably- I've played computer games with better plots and acting!)

Why a con? Lucas could have just released the movies on Blu-ray and then made a separate "super deluxe Blu-ray edition" later (sort of like what's happening with LOTR Razz), but instead he's giving some bonus content. By the nature of the films being Blu-ray there is already something new, in that they are now HD, but I fail to see how adding bonus features somehow makes it a "con".

That's a fake trailer made by fans using astronaut footage from Transformers: Dark of the Moon and music from Inception.

Don't worry about it; I mainly noticed because I had seen the Transformers trailer (though i can't remember what possessed me to watch that Rolling Eyes ). IIRC Prometheus still has a while to go before it gets released, so we probably won't see any trailers for it soon. Smile

"I fail to see how adding bonus features somehow makes it a "con"."- Eldo

Because I am soo much more cynical than you young Eldo! Its not as if this is new stuff, its ancient, which means they could have given it to dedicated fans long ago to see, but they did not not. Which tells me its either not that good the new stuff or they have been hanging onto it just so they can draw resell the same old thing yet again by luring folk to part with their cash (again) for 'exclusive' material. And they have the cheek to do it under the guise of giiving the viewer more! Mad

The fact is that the Blu-ray release is something new regardless of whether or not there's additional content. The selling point of this release is being able to see Star Wars in HD; everything else is just icing on the cake. I'm really not sure why you're focusing on the bonus features so much. Wink

Because the bonus features are eminently unsuited to a blueray release- some grainy footage from a 1970's film camera does not have to wait for a shiny HD blue ray release, unless you use it as a means of flogging a dead horse to people who already paid several times for your previous flogged dead horse. (Americans -can never see the cynacism in Captialism!-they aint doing you a favour you know-they are trying to get your money-again!)

Was watching Juno yesterday, which I hadn't seen in ages, but I actually thought it was a pretty good film. It's a nice thoughtful film- doesn't pass judgement on the issue of pro-life and pro-choice. Thought it was a great film. Plus it's one of those films which you can pick up for a few pounds at any decent supermarket!

Also watched The Lovely Bones which was on tv last week. I liked it- though the effects in parts were definitely over the top- even I could realize that! But still, I thought it was decent watch.

(may be the single mum who has never settled down retaining her childhood fairytale dreams or the half bottle of buckie I've had tonight but I am enjoying the teen romance angle, plus I want to know the rest of the story!!)

It is proper silly teen girl flick.
Mysterious outsider, trying to find out who he is while falling for the girl (with the usual highschool agro) and then beating up on the bad guys.

well done one though!

As usual sent me looking for the book, as it feels very much like the start of series, but there is only a companion boook, not a series!

Yeah! it fits with that current trend of outsider sci fi flick that is really a romance, just in an alternate reality

(Jumper and The adjustment buerea spring to mind!)

A friend of mine has been telling me to watch The Matrix for some time now, a franchise I have had my doubts about. So I agreed to watch them and we sat through the whole trilogy today, and I enjoyed it Very Happy Some of the fight scenes were abit over the top and lengthy, but I didn't really have a problem with that. Didn't understand half of it, though Laughing Made me feel like watching LOST again Laughing
