Agreed. Pat Garret and Billy the Kid and Once upon a time in America are good examples of films that should be watched as they were intented to be presented. Both great movies, but raped by those who felt they were too long or weren't fit for the theatres in their original forms.
I saw Once upon a Time in America at the Seattle International Film Festival the year before it was released in the theaters. It was something like 4 hours long!Shocked  When I saw it a few years later it was not only shorter, it had been re-edited to change the emphasis. It was a different movie. Still good, but without the same epic sweep.

I've always wondered what The Good the Bad and the Ugly might have looked like in a director's cut. I've got an old pulp novel of tGtBatU that came out before the American release. It was clearly written from the Italian script (Blondie is called "Whitey" for example) and it has several key scenes that I've never seen on the screen. It's a different story. Not necessarily better, but different.

Oh. Which one did you go for, Ringo?

I have a soft spot for Dahls for obvious reasons, quality among them, but you can only get it at Vinmonopolet in Oslo.

The one which really stand out to me is the 0.33 red Frydenlund boxes. They're head and  shoulders above any other brands that are availabe at the store here.

I actually went for a Mack, also bought from Vinmonopolet (for you non-fjordians, that is a store found all over the country that is the only actor on the market with permission to sell alcoholic beverages stronger that 4,7% or something close). Very pleasant, though I don't know if that was because the beer was very good or if it was because I've been looking forward to tasting it for a week :DI've also stacked up on Dahls, of course, me coming from where I do and all :DGlad to hear that we're not alone in enjoying it! Smile

As to Frydenlund, is that their juleøl you're talking about? I've only tasted the regular 0,5 cans, though I've tasted a variety of Frydenlund tap beers, of which most have been excellent. I can imagine they know how to brew proper Christmas beer as well Smile

Their juleøl, yes. It's great, so I'd pick up some if you see it at your local store. Not sure how available it is around the country though. Frydenlund in general is pretty great.

Not so crabbit now! [2] - Page 6 Frydenlund_jule_l_855420a

I know the tromsøværings take their Mack very seriously, so I wont be saying anything negative about that. :taps nose:Made from very clean water apparently. What I've had has been very enjoyable. Very Happy

Yeah, particularily Dahls Juløl I've always liked. Nod

And the situation certainly plays a role in the enjoyment. Very Happy  Not that that should reflect badly on the beer, of course.

Haha, found it! I was looking for this as we we're talking about "Muck". Michael Palin visiting Tromsø.

Don't be fooled by the title of the video, it's from Pole to pole. The first part of the video has nothing to do with football. Fjordlandians might want to give the last part of the video a miss however, it's rather embarrasing.

And they were all very flattering about Mack as well. Nod So I can see you people take it very seriously. Very Happy

As for the Rosenborg people I wouldn't really say he hooked up with them, more like ambushed by really. Laughing I always get rather embarrased seeing that scene. Embarassed Not really who you would want representing peoples image of Norway.

Oh, and it's from a television program called "Pole to pole" where Michael Palin travels from the north to the south pole.

In the first episode he travels from the north pole across Svalbard to Tromsø. And then across Finmark to Finland. Here's the first episode:

It's quite interesting to see Norway through a foreigners eyes. Particularily for you who live there I guess.

I agree, Petty. Very Happy  At their best they are truely great television.

And I would say a lot of that is down to Palin being able to relate so well to people though they might not speak a word of english or share anything of his culture.

Thoroughly recomended by me as well. Nod

Oh, so you're a fan of Palin as well. Very Happy

Have you seen his travel series? You really should. Nod

If not, the first episode of "Pole to pole" which I posted above isn't a bad place to start. Full Cricle might be even better, though it doesn't have any Tromsø in it.

Oh, you are? Very Happy

That's great. I do love Monty Python and used to watch it quite a lot.

Through Monty Python I also came across "Peter Cook and Dudley Moore" and "Spike Milligan," who were the two big inspirations behind Monty Python. I did share a Peter Cook and Dudley Moore sketch over on the Sherlock thread, but I think you might have seen it as norcing at the time. Smile Here's a sketch from each of them if you're interested:

Palins travel series I think are some of my favourite television shows. So I would urge you to give a whole series or at least a couple of episodes a go to see if you would really like it. Though there is a lot of other stuff to watch as well, I know. Nod

Something like that. Laughing

It's a shame the whole thing isn't on youtube anymore because it's quite funny. Those are just three clips from the entier sketch and they doesn't make all that much sense in relation to the whole thing.

"Who did it?! Who bloody did it?!"

Quite Sherlocky. Laughing

Oh, also found a John Lennon appearance on Peter Cook and Dudley Moores sketch show:

Though this might be more representative of their comedy, however:
