I possibly over stated the island bit, but I think he was alluding that the Greater Hyksos (I think) were Pelasgians from the Greek and Anatolian mainland. (I hope David Rohl isn't reading this. I might be getting a bit jumbly with his theories 
).
A warrior caste who maybe ruled the Palestine coastal cities and subsequently overtook Avaris as a (loosely-speaking) Palestinian-Egyptian minor empire. (My tentative terminology). (I really hope David Rohl isn't reading this! )
I'm fond of Rohl's chronological theories, but I've been probably alluding to the Consensus dates pretty much.
There is so much to know about such long periods of time! It's hard to get a solid picture in my head.
This is why I'm trying to focus on the Exodus period as much as I can. When was it? In the time of Ahmose is my guess. Now it's about trying to interpret all the (apparent) versions of that event in the records.
