will you lot please stop Cumberbumbling its getting confusing. I might think its Norc and agree with something but it turns out to be Petty in disguise. (((and we cant have that, it would create a timespace warpything and the Earth would explode ))) Mad

btw I still cant decide about Clara. She is ok, I dont dislike her, but she doesnt really make me enthusiastic about her character, she is a bit ho-hum. which is odd cos on paper she ticks all my boxes. she was actually born in Blackpool, and I was born in the town next door, she wears bustles a lot, and is more the traditional assistant, but she is a bit Hollyoak cute and forgettable, she lacks the vibrancy of the Others, whether you like or dislike Amy she was definately not forgettable.

thomas, who's thomas?- Norc (I think!)

One of the brief Gattis jokes which didnt work for me- the young lad that Srax asks directions from- its a joke on the sat nav system Tom-Tom.

"btw I still cant decide about Clara. There must be a planetary alignment or something- I said very much the same about Clara in my review of this episode. Shocked

I dont dislike her at all- but there isnt much about her character still to get your teeth into too- beyond the mystery surrounding her I mean- and thats not character its mystery.
I still think Rings of Akheten is Clara's best episode so far and the only one her character seemed really rounded and real in for me.

I am not sure about that, the mystery of her seeming impossibility is interesting in and of itself.
Clara as a person however is, so far, not a very interesting personality. She hasnt really had any big character defining moments.

Its not much to hang a character hat on though is it- good with kids.
She needs abit more rounding out yet. She i just sort of thee atthe moment- she is fine, entertaining to watch, just a bit bland so far. Not very memorable yet.
I struggle to really think of anything interesting or significiant Clara has done since her arrival.

I dunno, Rose we knew all about by end of first episode, at least in terms of her basic personality annd reactions.
Same with Donna.
Amy is perhaps more comparable as like Clara she is a mystery to be solved- but you knew where you were with Amy right from the off- and by the time you wee nearing the end of the halfway point of series 5 (comparable to where we are with Clara) we were into the Angels two parter and Amy was well established as a character.
Im just a bit concerned Clara is still a bit too much plot devise and not enough a person.

Child characters and Gaimans writing does seem like a good mix.
I wondered, with the way the kids bit was sort of, well tacked on really, to the end of the last episode, if its was specifically because Gaiman's story idea needed kids in it, or if it bringing the kids into it was their plan all along (like how they brought Rory in).

Well Rory was in the first episode with Amy a fair bit- then Amy goes off with the Doctor and Rory doesnt rejoin the story until the Vampires in Venice- which was the 6th epiosde of series 5.
Likewise, Clara and the kids were introduced together in Clara's intro episode (although the kids feaured less than Rory did in his first story), and then Clara goes off on her own with the Doctor, and now, 7 episodes in, the kids are reintroduced.
