Dunno how it is in the US but kissograms here tend to turn up in public places- office parties ect strippers work in clubs or stag nights. And most notably kissograms give you a kiss, strippers strip- quite a big difference really. Im sure youd notice Eldo, eventually.

I'd honestly never heard of either before watching The Eleventh Hour. It just seemed like an excuse to show off her legs to me. Doctor Who [5] - Page 6 3392635135

Seriously though, are kissograms an actual thing in real life? Because all I can find through Google is DW references.

Yeah they are- like I said people tend to hire them to turn up to suprise someone at their workplace or similar. Not to strip.
They read out a message or whatever theyve been sent for, give you a cheeky kiss and everyone laughs and at how embarrassed you are- thats the baisc set up anyway.

And wasnt just to show off her legs, it also gave this excellent exchange among others-

Doctor- A police woman? Why dress as a police woman?
Amy- You broke into my house. And it was this or a french maid.

I Googled "hire a kissogram" and I have to say, the results are making it hard for me to believe that there is a big difference between kissograms and stripograms.

If they turn up to your office, or during daylight hours they are the non stripping sort Eldo- if they do stag nights they probably strip and therefore are not really kissograms- they are strippers who dont want to call themselves that.
Given Who is family tv its unlikely the BBC were aiming for stripper.

If you go to some ofthose pages Eldo you will see there is a difference- both in what they do and cost!

Fo example -
Acts available include kissograms,
Stripograms,

and

We have kissograms and strippergrams for all occasions.

Ther are not the same thing. And I wouldnt call either 'posh' jobs myself.

And given that you can hire both from the same agency I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that most of these people probably do double duty as both kissograms and stripograms depending on whether or not they were hired to go to a public location, rather than the two being separate occupations.

Given Who is family tv its unlikely the BBC were aiming for stripper.

Funny, I said basically the same thing myself.

You pay a plumber different prices depending on how much he does for you (hopefully no stripping involved there though).

And I wouldn't call it posh either.

Her family were not working class- but the Amy we meet has no family- all she has left is the house- so she herself is working class as she can only be defined by what she does, as there is noone else, and she has a working class job.
Rory likewise has a working class job- nurse. With asperation to be Middle class (and move into upper Ledworth!)

Why?
Karen is working class from Inverness.
Apart from Amy growing up in a big house what was not working class about her?

everything- Mrs Figg

Like a low paid job. And living in a small village. And she sounds working class, or at least she sounds like a working class Inverness accent thats trying to make itself understandable to the English- but still clearly Scots working class.

the class system in the UK is bonkers. srsly, and so old fashion.- Norc

Or simply more honest than most and putting a clear label on it and the dividing lines- every western society has different levels of society from poor to rich.

It's not that you guys acknowledge the class system that weirds me out (I think it'd be great if more countries did that), it's the simmering hatred that seems to be lurking just under the surface, especially with middle-vs-working class.

Same reason your sports weird me out, really.

why label it. why the need of labels. srsly, are you justifying it? it's horrible, and how some people has their class used against them, or struggle, and when somoen makes it it's like "wow, good for you, wow, from middle class and all" it's ridiculous.

ofc i want to mntion benedict, but he went to grand schools and everything and people says he's posh and such, and he well. he hates it i think. he can't complain, because his parents really wanted him to get a good education and it would seem ungrateful, and he is grateful, but people keep telling him he's upper class or whatever, and i don't think he identifies with that (i might dig out interviews, this isn't me just ranting, i've read it /whatched it)

THe working v lower class thing is stoked up by the upper class to divert from the real crims- so the bankers walk away with all the money and leave the rest of us to pay for it- so the government tell the middle class its the lazy poor who are holding them back wanting minimum wags and tax benefits, and they tell the working class the poor and unemployed and why their wages are so low.
And then everyone shits on the poorest people in our society.
Thats more or less how it works, least when the Tories are in government.
