spot the mistakes
found this article in Bree.. spot the gramatical and well.. errors.. i wonder if the one who wrote this was awake? like the language is just.. it's like so bad! i, as a foreigner, reacts! jesus.. every line begins with he/he is/his... what the fuck?! and so many porly written sentences.. like.. whaaat? also it lacks information, if i didn't know what actually happened i would be really confused when it is only written: He was defeated when Isildur used Narsil to cut the One Ring.
and why can't you, idk, stick with presence tens? or whatever?

Hugo Weaving
Hugo Wallace Weaving is a British-Australian film and actor. He was born on April 4, 1960 at the University Teaching Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria. His mother is Anne who was an English. His maternal grandmother was a Belgian. A year after his birth, his family returned to England. He attended the independent boarding school Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital. At the age of 13, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. He has a brother named Simon and a sister named Anne Jane. His family transferred from one place to another until they moved back to Australia in 1976 and he attended another private school and later graduated from the Australian’s National Institute of Dramatic Art in 1981. He is best known of his role as “V” from the Lord of the Ring and performed numerous Australian character dramas.
Elrond
Elrond is a half-eleven and Lord of Rivendell. He was once a mighty ruler of cold that still remained in Middle-earth during the Third-Age. Was a son of Earendil and Elwing. He was born to refuge the Heavens of Sirion in Beleriand. He has a twin brother, Elros. In their lives, they encounter and experience the so called three eras of ages. The First Age, Second and Third Age. At the end of the First Age, both of them left and travelled presumably to Lindon. Elrond chose to be counted among the Elves and remain in Lindon as captain and herald of Gil-Galad, the High King of Númenor. He attempted to protect the city from the invading forces of Sauron. He fails to do it and retreated north with a host of elves out of Eregion including Celeborn. Near the end of the Second Age, Elrond rode beside in the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. He is one of the Gil-galad’s most trusted commanders and led to destroy the whole legion of the orcs. He was defeated when Isildur used Narsil to cut the One Ring.
The last Alliance of Elves and Men took a toll on the force until Elrond with Cirdan remain as the commanders of elves and Elrond returned to Rivendell at the end of the war.

Re: spot the mistakes
For a main page feature its not briliantly written, no. It looks like it was done as a bullit-point style presentation and has just been put into a prose format without any changes.

Re: spot the mistakes
I still follow THM on Facebook from way back when Ady ran the site. For some reason they've started posting a ton of poorly-written, factually incorrect articles in the past few weeks. Maybe Taz finally succeeded in selling the site, or he hired someone to write for the blog. Either way it's rather embarrassing.

Lord of the Rings was meant to teach society about the dangers of absolute power. This fact is often lost upon the multitudes that have seen the movie as they are more often expecting a simple fantasy story that has little to do with real life and has more to do with slaying monsters and saving kingdoms. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings almost have little to do with common fantasy stories as even Tolkien himself has stated that his stories were “Fairy Stories” (how humans interact with fairies and vice versa) rather than “Fairy Tales” (which is more about humans solving their problems with magic).
Re: spot the mistakes
He said he sold the site to a "nice couple" a few days ago I think.

Ah, thanks for the heads up, RA. I didn't think he was just going to give it away, but he never seemed especially interested in The Hobbit films.
End of an era.

But, it has to appeal to the largest demographic possible or no one will like it...Mrs Figg wrote:poorly written improvised scripts, are you sure its not PJ and Boyens

yes, embarrassing is the word.
this is what Taz said
Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know I have handed ownership of the-hobbit-movie.com to a nice couple (husband and wife) who are huge tolkien fans and who can give the site the time it deserves. It was a pleasure to purchase the site some years ago (and strip all the adverts from it!) and I wish you all the best in the future. I will now return to planet-tolkien.com whence I came. In fellowship.
it might be PJ (and is he married toBoyens or Walsh?)

Re: spot the mistakes
Wait, reading through the Spam thread, it seems that Taz didn't even let the Bree mods know how to contact the new webmasters? He and Ady really are birds of a feather. Poor THM, that forum is never going to have an admin who cares about it.
Re: spot the mistakes
but we do, luckily ^^
the articles suck.. if they were hand-in school work they'de get like ...2
the amount of fact-wrong and misinterpret and lack of sources and just.. personal opinion presented as facts .. well, it just confirms that one should never trust anything on the internet.

Re: spot the mistakes
I am glad to have met all the people who have come over from Bree-land though. I don't have enough energy to be active on more than one Tolkien forum at this point in my Internet career, so I'm grateful to our diplomatic corps over there.

"Corps", not "corpse". The guys from here who post on Bree and encourage interesting people to try out Forumshire as well. Petty and Orwell have probably been the most consistent posters of those who made the journey from Forumshire to Bree.

Well if you want to get down to it we all ultimately came from Bree, except for the people from PT and the people who directly joined New Forumshire.
- Spoiler:
- And I'm happy that you're here too, Carly.
