spot the age difference
since there was a lot of talk about that we can see how the LOTR actors have age in TH, I would like to adress the topic here.
FRODO:
not really much of a difference is there? one from 2001 and the one on the right is 2010/11/12 (not completely sure)
LEGOLAS:
okay, still really good looking, but there is a BIG difference. The first one is from one of the lotr movies, the one on the right from the launch of three musketeers.
any more re-appearing people..
IAN MCKELLEN:
this is not really fair, cus he is a wizard and he's supposed to look old, anyhow, I don't care. He's a great actor!
and just because.. of course:

Re: spot the age difference
Thankyou Norc- every time I see a pic of Gandalf from the Hobbit I get a twinge of uindefined crabbit- and thats solved what it is!
Its the beard.
In an attempt to compensate for the actor being older they have tried to make Gandalf look younger but having black still in his hair- only Gandalf never had dark hair (Saruman did- he still had traces of it in his beard)- but Gandalf in TH is described as having a 'long white beard'- more like the LotR's version in the films.
By crivvens! Something else to be crabbbit about! I must order more buckie at this rate.
ps dunno if its my internet but I only see 1 Elijah and he,unlike Frodo, has a beard (one worthy of a PJ dwarf!)

Re: spot the age difference
shoot me, but I think the beard looks better in TH. Yes, I can't remember, but he's supposed to have white beard? but I just remember reading long beard and huge eyebrows. And Saruman has white beard and all, can't confuse it..

Re: spot the age difference
I had the same elijah problem, Petty. But I noticed the little blue thing to the left that meant an image didn't show up. So I quoted Norc's post, stripped out the image link, and pasted into the browser. It showed up. Then when I went back to Norc's post it showed up again. Problem solved. I guess it's a buffer thing.

Must be my connection then.
Hopefully sort itself out later.

Actually in the book its Sarumans whose beard still has traces of black in it- so of any of them should have the darker hair in this its Saruman not Gandalf. Gandalfs is described as white in the opeing of TH when Bilbo first sees him.

Petty: try this. Look at the image in the link below.

Then go back to Norc's page and see if it shows up because it's been loaded into the cache.

Re: spot the age difference
Theres definetly a lot more black in the Hobbit version Id say, look at his roots!
But you are right- it was wrong in LotR's too being greyish instead of white. And when it did go white, when Gandalf became The White (he's nothing if not one for simplisity PJ!) they gave him a beard trim in Valinor before sending him back- it was barely long enough to go on a dwarf (one of PJ's that is).

No, no David, nothing of that shade here I'm quite sure. Not even off-white.

That sounds fairly clearly white to me. Any argument Elthir?
I wonder if the silver scarf was mithril?
