a gossamer seed is like the Dandelion seed that floats on fluff, its probably a romantic to say a dress made out of delicate fairy thistledown or something like Queen Titania would wear. something fragile and rare.

Context please? Is it:
"But the cloth that I make is a cloth you can sell
To pay for the gossamer seed"
Seems to be about innocence and pure intentions.
som betaling for eddekoppsilke?
Uskuldig, fjørlett, edderkoppsilke, fjon, løvetannfjon...

løvetannfjon was just adorable!! ^^ yes, it's that songlyric i think it's about death though, so "løvetannfjon" is very good as it is also a symbol of an old man. sort of.
Re: oi brits! non brits! whatever!
OMFG! I just saw the context!!!!!! D: jeesus.. (I can't help analyse it ) but the gossamer seed is kind of like the soul that travels off or the linnen they cover a dead body with or! when the body is under the ground it gives nouragment to the flower and the gossamer seeds, also the seeds float away in late summer/autumn, so the end, the live's autumn. livets høst. ..
all of the lyrics (i am also very intrigued by the whole " i have stole from those who " and so on, it makes me believe it's a young person who dies)
Lyrics : Follow You Down to the Red Oak Tree
verse 1
follow you down to the red oak tree
as the air moves thick through the hollow reeds
i will wait for you there until someone comes
to carry me, carry me down
verse 2
see i have not i have not grown cold
i have stole from men who have stole from those
with their arms so thin and their skin so old
but you are young, you are young, you are young
bridge
then somebody laughs like it’s all just for hell
as though we could not be saved from the depth of the well
but the cloth that i make is a cloth you can sell
to pay for the gossamer seed
verse 3
names get carved in the red oak tree
of the ones who stay and the ones who leave
i will wait for you there with these cindered bones
so follow me follow me down
follow me follow me down
follow me follow me down
follow me follow me down

As Mrs Figg mentioned gossamer also has a connection with faery. Its a word not used often in its proper sense, I dont think i have every heard anyone in actual life say when confronted with a lot of dandelion seeds floating by "look at all that gossamer."
More commonly the word has a magical implicaton to it, something faery.
Faery Queens in dresses spun from gossamer threads that sort of thing.

I noticed for some reason online dictionaries dont always seem to mention that conotation to the word.

I'm not quite sure who watched As Time Goes by- the ageing members of the upper middle classes I suspect.
The rest of us were probably watching Blackader and Only Fools and Horses or something.
It was so awful we sort of learned to watch as a kind of horror show. I loved fools and horses. You could always tell what he was selling by the stuff not sold put decorativly about. I am a neat freak and dont like a lot of stuff, so it was awful :I guess they call me Dave because that is my name" I loved him.
Is it true that Brits love sandwhiches so much they eat more than anyone else? What for. I can think of nothing more boring than sandwhiches. What kinds do you love most?

Brits and sandwiches- probably goes back to the picnic traditon.
We like sandwiches but we make rubbish ones- continental europe is much better for quality sandwiches.
British sandwiches tend to be limp slightly soggy affairs sadly.
I supsect, like the weather, we talk about them a lot because there is a lot to complain and be crabbit about in the average Brit sandwich!

The Earl of Sandwich invented them. he was a gambler and couldnt be bothered to eat a proper meal between gaming tables so he ordered pieces of meat between bread as a quick meal.

It's hard to say out of context, but I'd guess that "just for hell" is short for the phrase "just for the hell of it" which basically means "for no good reason", or "probably stupid but still kind of fun". Does that help at all?
