Artisitc Merits

Its a very handy little tool- especially when you just want to blend in tones.

I'm not sure there's much of a difference, it looks pretty shitty.

I started off with this photo I found on Google Image Search.



I started off just smearing the whole picture then playing around with different areas of color. I didn't have any idea what it was becoming but at some point it started to look like a car so I deliberately added the tires.

haha... you couldn't get rid of the bus in your head, just like i couldn't get rid of the flowers.. next time.. try turning the picture up side down..

I wasn't trying to make it into a different automobile, but the basic shape of the colors just kept sticking around.

Actually I think it looked coolest when it was just an indistinct mess of layered colors with lots of cool strokes and shaded areas, but it didn't look like anything in particular.

i've gotta try making some abstract art again.

Excellent work. I love watching the vids because its interesting to see you change your mind as you work and to see the artistic choices you make.

artistic choices? haha, you mean giving up the mouth area and be like "fuck it, let's give him a scarf" ?

 Yeah! But not just that- colour choices and things too.
(and besides its a good sign you gave up the mouth area- as most people having drawn the mouth you did would have been very pleased, you weren't and didnt settle for it and changed it dramatically, shows you won't just accept something as 'ok' when you think its not right)

Another render. I am experimenting with rocks, and the fake stones shader. Everything else in this picture is just there to liven it up a bit, so its not just, well rocks.

Gorgeous renders as ever! My only quibble would be that some of the low-lying clouds in the background of the mountain image look a little flat. But the mountain itself and the sky look great.

Yeah its quite a thin cloud layer, about 1500 metres thick so it does tend to look flatter in the distance, problem is if I make it thicker you lose being able to see through the gaps to whats below and it becomes a more uniform blanket of cloud- bit of a balancing act. I could localise the cloud level so it doesnt stretch off to the horizon, but cant be arsed now!

i love the ipad, don't get me wrong, but i can never find that pen so i end up using my finger and well... i seem to loose patience and i really can't do details yet.. waaay to impatience and too inaccurate. 

Terragen 3 as used by people who know what they are doing (they make it) and a lot of shit hot processing power and a render farm-
