have you been on the DMT?

I have been thinking about the experiences people have on it and they all say there are intelligent entities that 'meet' them once in this place, and it definately is some kind of place even though a place beyond our wildest imagination, but the experience of a Being of some kind is universal. I was wondering if its a drug and we dont actually go anywhere, and its all a chemical reaction in our brains, who or what the heck are these creatures? they are said to be benign and helpful creatures, maybe for some, ancestors, but if they are in a different dimension, how can we meet them through our brain chemistry? Shocked are our brains portals? Shocked oh lawks.

have you been on the DMT?- Mrs Figg

No, but Ive visited some, interesting, places in my time.

The only answer I can give to your question though is to think of the brain like a clever radio. It can be wired up in a lot of different ways to receive signals and turn them into a radio station to listen to- and all humans are more or less tuned into the same station- we call it reality FM.
Drugs which alter perception alter the wiriing in your radio and you start picking up other stations.
Its exactly what we all do every day to tune into this perception, its just this is the default station, and its really hard to retune manually- which is where the drugs come in- problem witt the drugs is whilst it rewires and retunes it completely random and you might only partly tune it to another station or move continually across sations and eventually it will break your radio so it doesnt even tune back into reality FM properly- which is why I say they are not recreational drugs, or for fun- their main purpose is to teach your body a fundemental lesson its forgotten- that it selected and was taught to tune into reality FM and its not the only choice. Knowing this intellectually never makes a difference, but when your body has experienced it what yuour mind might think about it no longer matters. Your body knows the truth.

Certain drugs like DMT and the jaguar one the Mexicans have seem to produce 'consistent' retunes to another staion- in DMT's case the entities you speak of are incredibly common and the Mexican one you always meet a jaguar, apparently even if you have never heard of or seen one before (Ive not had the opportunity to take it so I can confirm or deny that one).

by all accounts DMT has no side effects and you become instantly normal after 15 minutes. It may not be harmful but i think you probably need to be mentally stable in the first instance or there may be problems. I have trouble enough with normal dreams on waking, sometimes they hang around for hours giving me the heebies, so something as powerful as DMT would be pretty scary.

I'm with you there, Mrs Figg. I've always been able to take my mind to different places and see my self from a distance under certain circumstances. It's been very useful at certain difficult times. I also sometimes have the kinds of dreams I think you're talking about.

But when I started experimenting with mind altering drugs just a little bit as a teenager, I found that I lost the control that I counted on to guide me back to my self. It was really scary! There is NOTHING lonelier and scarier than forgetting who you are! affraid

Having known a couple people who left that road and never really found their way back I know it's a very real danger.

yes I agree, we were not meant to tap the 'unreal FM' in every day life. Only the Shamans/Druids and special people of society had the power to control and recieve knowledge from these other dimensions, and lets say 'ancestors'. Normal people like me dont have the skills or the mental strength to dominate fear, I believe you have to be fearless to enter that world, maybe its Faerie, its beautiful but it can kill you. Perhaps at the moment before Death I could take a huge amount and see what happened. It might answer a few questions or it might take me direct to the hot place. pale

Drugs are a akick in the perception- they aregenerally considered necessary by Shamans to provide the initial jolts to loosen perception and persuade the self that its possible to move perception at all.
After that stage however they serve no purpose, as you point out Dave it lacks the crucial compnonent, control. Its chaotic and uncontrollable. All you can do is go along for the ride and hope you learn something.
But as the initail instigator there really is no other substitute Im afraid.
If I could live my life again those are experiences I would ensure I had again, as I cant imagine life without that knowledge.

A much better method is to learn lucid dreaming- to be aware in a dream that you are dreaming and to make concious decision within a dream.
I highly recommend it- flying is so much fun. Very Happy
And its ridiculously easy to do (well sort of, the instructions are easy but your mind wont like you trying to do it at first!)

Post by David H Wed Jun 05, 2013 5:56 pm

When I was 4 or 5 I figured out that in dreams if I needed anything I could always reach behind me and take it out of my back pocket. Later I learned that if I wanted something bigger like a horse or a car, I could reach into my pocket for the halter or the keys. Once my hand was on the key I could walk around a corner or tree and the car would be there. (I still sometimes unconsciously reach for my pockets in Real Life when I wish I had something.

The loosened perception you're talking about was what first got me into marathon running and long distance hiking when I was in my late teens. Coupled with fasting it can give you a sense of the world opening up, but in a gentle, integrated way like a flower opening, not like being blown apart by a bomb.

I once had a dream I hope one day to revisit. I remember it as the best dream I have ever had. I was in a Spanish castle by the sea, right on the cliff face. I remember looking down and seeing this beautiful garden full of flowers then I looked towards the sunset and I felt ecstacy, thats the only way to describe it, human ecstasy, my heart soared upwards and I felt fit to burst with joy. When I woke up I was crying. I have never felt like that in real life, nowhere near as strong anyway. Maybe one day I will go back.

dreams are strange. Ive had dreams where I feel absolutely certain that Ive been there before, that I actually fit in there, as if that place (or dream) IS my home, & Im really sad on waking up & finding Im not there ! I even feel fear that I cannot get back to where I feel I should be ! Suspect

Learn lucid dreaming and just choose to go back Mrs Figg.

Its very simple- it works purely on the minds inability to resist repition.
Basically pray. Ever single night when you go to bed say this to yourself, "I am a dreamer. Tonight I will control my dreams. In my dream I will look at my hands."

Also try to think about doing it, imagine doing it, as often as possible.
We can convince ourselves of lots of things if we just keep telling ourselves its true. Usually this leads to delusional people, but its also a very handy tool used properly.

Do this every night and eventually you will be having a dream and suddenly realise it is a dream and look at your hands- there is at this point a very high chance the shock will wake you up.
It is also common for there to be a long gap between the first time it happens and it happening again- this can be very frustrating but perserver and soon it will start to happen more and more often.
