Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey' - Page 4 Empty Re: Critics review 'An Unexpected Journey'

dunno.. but there was a norwegian author who reviewed the hobbit and he saw it in 48fps and he gave it almost top score. It seems that most critics expect a full LOTR or whatever, but clearly they haven't read the book, or they would know that they mostly just walk. I mean, complaining it is slow... damn it I almost fell asleep while reading LOTR sometimes. jeez...

sometimes. I enjoyed it, but I don't like the part of the book thats only about Sam and Frodo walking through wasteland towards Mordor...not even in the movie.. maybe because I am a bit tired of em complaining and frodo looking sick and whiney and sam hopefully, crying it'll be okay mr frodo and frodo "oh Sam"..

Forbes has given it a rave and stated that it seems to be channelling Terry Gilliam - between that and Norc's mini review and spoilers I am really very excited now!

Because they don't know a thing about the Hobbit. They're expecting LOTR and when the Hobbit is just a fraction of that they get dissapointed and when the Hobbit tries to rely on the success (a bit, some of the things are directly a hint towards the movies) and be a bit like LOTR they get offended because it feels like a rip-off. If they are going to draw parallells they're gonna get really crabbit.

I'm going at 20:30 - would be fun to share some thoughts on the film Saturday night (unless you don't drink yourself to death, of course) Smile

I'll be seeing The Hobbit tomorrow night at 9:30 PM, though with time zone differences I don't expect many people to be awake when I get back. I'll probably be too excited to go straight to bed so you can most likely expect some impressions from me shortly afterwards. Razz

Why didn't GandaLF trick the trolls?
Why did Bilbo try and save Thorin?

If you're being serious (and I admit to never being entirely sure) then that worries me since I figured you were a safe bet to love the films, Carly. :/

I'm not surprised by that part. Ever since the first trailer last December it seemed pretty clear that Gandalf was going to use magic of some sort instead of trickery.

I still haven't seen the film though so I don't know how it plays out for sure. 24 MORE HOURS!
