You'll be up until at least 4 AM tomorrow! That's when the California polls close (by British time) and there's no way you can call the election before Cali is in. That said, if Obama takes Ohio and Pennsylvania, it's as good as over.
NB I think both of you are spot-on with regards to history education.

Rigth I'm all set- going American tonight- got my double pack of oreos- huge bag of doritos and some dr peeper and mountain dew (not easy to get hear) and a personall favourite- root beer.
I was going to substitute buckie for American budwieser but as thats a ridiculous idea (I want to be drunk not full of gas and water!) I'm sticking with buckie.
David- I support your noble cause- fairer election- social policies? Did a lot of Scots set up in that bit of the US by any chance?

As much as you can trust the internet and some very convincing pictures, it's true and I salute them!

Though some would say they've been canning water for the last century, and calling it beer.

In general I do my best to support independence movements and the right to national self-determination, so if the majority of people in the Pacific Northwest want to then I don't have much of a say. I'll miss getting to visit without needing a passport though.

I'm shocked that you'd be willing to go that American. I can't endorse Mountain Dew though, that's stuff's nasty.
Also, very cool of Anheuser-Busch to donate water like that.
Re: HUSSEIN vs WILLARD: Rumble in the Electoral College
Fingers crossed that Democrats in Ohio and Florida are able to tough it out despite being required to wait up to seven hours to vote in some cases.
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/11/no-one-in-america-should-have-to-wait-7-hours-to-vote/264506/
The silver lining is that Obama is leading in Iowa and Virginia as well this morning so even if he loses Ohio and Florida he still has a good chance of winning the electoral college, but what's going on in those two states is a national disgrace.

Re: HUSSEIN vs WILLARD: Rumble in the Electoral College
I just got back from voting at one of the the local elementary schools (which I briefly attended when I was five). We got there just after noon so I assume a lot of people came by during their lunch hour, but the line was surprisingly long. We had to wait for a little over an hour before spending three minutes voting. Definitely worth it though, and I'm glad I voted. Maryland has a referendum to allow gay marriage on the ballot this year and it was very satisfying to vote for that.
In the meantime though, I cannot wait until 7:00 to see the results start coming in.

Im betting they just changed the cans not the contents!

One of the, advantages, benefits, not sure those are really the right words, but anyway, from having had a US base here for decades is the left over traces (and not just a lot of people whose father was American! Over sexed and over here indeed! ) but also a local economy capabale of supporting a shop that specialises in selling American imports (but at a much higher price- it was over £2 each for the can of root beer!)- fortunetly the rest- the doritos ect are now made and sold here too so I didnt have to pay inflated prices for those.
And if your going to sit up all night watching an American election you may as well get into the spirit of things.

Re: HUSSEIN vs WILLARD: Rumble in the Electoral College
I actually like mountain dew, Eldo (at least in comparison to other sodas), but I don't drink it because of the high caffeine content, and I'm rather anti caffeine.
You do realize, Petty, that the basic American diet you are so perfectly emulating will add twice as many pounds to your body as you consume. The food barricades itself at some strategic point in the intestinal tract and proceeds to hold all following food hostage. Just thought I'd give you a heads up.

Re: HUSSEIN vs WILLARD: Rumble in the Electoral College
It''ll have to get past the deep fried sausage (square of course) and the porridge that was a bit, stodgy, that I had earlier. Besides the buckie I wash it all down with will soon eat its way through everything else (including my liver).

Re: HUSSEIN vs WILLARD: Rumble in the Electoral College
About two hours until state-wide results begin to come in, but Obama is up 28-14 after midnight voting in New Hampshire.
In case you don't know, there are these two small towns in New Hampshire that always vote at midnight on election day so they can say they were the first in the nation. I'm pretty sure they have close to 100% voter turnout each year.

I'm actually at school because they have a big screen set up to show the news. ABC, though.
Re: HUSSEIN vs WILLARD: Rumble in the Electoral College
ABC calling:
Indiana: Romney
Kentucky: Romney
Vermont: Obama
Georgia: too close to call
South Carolina: too close to call
Virginia: too close to call
No surprises here. Virginia is the most important one to watch so far.

Yup, 3-19 so far.
Updated the map and total lists in the OP. I'm using the paint bucket too in GIMP; I feel so high tech next to the holographic tools the cable networks love to show off.

I wish we were watching the BBC here. I want to see David Dimbleby stay on the air for 18 straight hours again. He was amazing in 2010.
Edit: Pulled up BBC on my laptop with headphones, lol.
