Hi everyone!

You may be on to something there, Ally. There's bound to be lots of people like us out there, people who love to discuss Tolkien but who also would like the freedom to discuss whatever else they might have on their minds without breaking forum rules. In other words, people who want to be part of a community, not a discussion group. If we could find a way to advertise that, we should start seeing more members (granted the "advertisement" finds its way to the right people!)

Again with the whole Justin B thing, my 7yr old cousin has three MASSIVE posters of him in her room and my 11yr old half-sis has one poster of him! I do not understand the obsession! But for gods sake, my cousin is 7 and she is already obsessed with justin beiber!

I like Ally's idea. It's possible to create a splash page using Forumotion, I believe even with HTML (though it has been so long that my HTML "skills" are practically non-existent). There's a limit to what we could do with that, but it could be a start. Maybe.

I have less a clue about the technical side to all this than I do about this Beiber chap! But if you need anything contributed Eldo- some nice banners knocked up or something eye-catching for the page let me know.

The only problem is that the portal would have to look similar to the forum. I think a portal with the same design as our current one, wouldn't be particually attractive. The CSS can be changed pretty easily, I'm not sure if you'd even have to touch the HTML side of things, but then the problem would deciding a potential layout for the portal and site, so they are both cohesive. If I remember correctly the portal of forummotion is heavily customizable, as they allow you to insert custom HTML.

Anyone know where ole GB has got to? I do hope life is just being busy at him and not unpleasant. Place isn't the same without his bristles poking in about the place, feels like a bits missing.

I've got no idea. I really hope he comes back soon; I know I've been less active goes of RL stuff myself, but I miss him.

I just almost had a crabbit attack. (almost) I'm using the laptop and sometimes when you lean across the mouse thing it thinks you're clicking, so when i was putting the exclamation mark above, it highlited the whole thing and replaced it with a ! Luckily I remembered about that thing when you right click and click on undo! Phew!

Never thought this would be the thread without gossip! Can't believe noone wants to post on it anymore!
