Re: the all Dog thread!
Bungo, you ask what the fuck is the point of life?
The point is that you've had the gift of giving quality to her life, and she's had the gift of giving quality to yours.
The goodbyes suck, but they can have a beauty too, in their own [sad] way. I won't say more on that.
That's between you and her now, and nobody else.
Edit: you've got me thinking back to many endings. My eyes are damp, but I'm glad I remember them all.

God, what the fuck is the point of life.
I'm never getting a dog.
Can't handle this shit.
That was actually one of the most beautiful things ever posted in Forumshire.

Re: the all Dog thread!
You gave her the one thing that we all want, we all look for, & you gave it without question, without asking for anything back. You, in effect saved her life. The pain you are feeling hurts so bad it chokes you, but, if you had not loved her who else might ? as a pup she could have fallen into the hands of someone who didnt even give a fuck about her, left her outside when she should have been indoors. You gave her something that lasts forever & she'll know it. I dont think its a bad idea to pour out all your hate, go for it, it helps the pain. When my cat, that I adored, past away, I had to take him 15miles to the nearest emergency vet qualified to do this sort of thing.I held him all the way there in my arms just chatting away about all sorts of stuff. I held him & even joked with him as the vet did her job, then I cracked up. I held him all the way home & hes with me still. I have him in the garden by the door & I still talk to him. But, much later I was given 2 tiny black kittens for my birthday & they have helped, I can concentrate on them.IL never forget my first love but, I can love another & they love you right back. My sweetheart didnt even have a full life, he contracted lung cancer when he was only 10yrs old. I watched him decline so quickly & I had to make the choice to lose him,You'll get there Bungo, you will

Re: the all Dog thread!
Its unbearable. When I lost two of my cats to a disease last year it left me feeling empty and bleak, didnt know what to do to get rid of the pain. Crying a lot helps a bit, and somewhere you can go to talk to them and be alone with them. I buried them at the bottom of the garden, it still hurts. But talking to them helps a bit.

I don't know what to say except I'm sorry, Bungo. Sadly we aren't in control of these things, and all you can do is treasure the memories. I know I dread the day when our dog dies or has to be put down. Sorry for your loss, Bungo, I hope you feel better soon.

RIP Lucky
4/13/1999 - 8/25/2014
“And the ship went out into the High Sea and passed into the West, until at last on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.”4/13/1999 - 8/25/2014

I'm sorry Bungo. Everything you can do you did do, and that is all anyone can do for another. You should be proud, even in sorrow, for her life and of yourself.

Re: the all Dog thread!
Thanks everyone for your encouraging words during this difficult time for me.
We got her when she was one year old, from a family that was obviously not ready for a dog. She was always shut up in her kennel in the laundry room. When we took her home the previous family gave us her kennel; we never used it.
My mother, brother, and I have been compiling all the videos/photos we have of her into a shared folder on Google Drive. My mom and I are also working on a list of memories. She will be cremated and her remains will be returned to my parents. I cut off a lock of her hair a few days ago, and I am currently storing it in a ziploc bag, but hope to find a better/proper use for it soon.

Re: the all Dog thread!
Then thank God it was you ! You gave her years of the very thing she would not have got from that previous family. So love yourself for that ! I have a lock of my pets fur in a silver locket that I wear every day. It makes me feel better.

Re: the all Dog thread!
Those "Day X: ___ Still think Im _____" can be really hilarious.
They hint at a cunning intelligence on the part of the one hiding or trying to blend in, and an adorable lack of perception on the part of the animal being tricked. There's also the whole "mission log" journal feel to it, and the ambiguity of why exactly the animal or person is trying to disguise themselves and infiltrate a group or individual's life.
Some of my favourites
(And yeah they're not all dogs too bad be quiet!)

Nice to see a Doberman WITH its tail. I really dont like dogs being docked, unless its for a medical reason. They were born with a tail so they should keep their tail.
