Eldorion wrote:I'm sorry to hear about your grandparents' dog, bungo. One of our dogs is about 13 or 14 (we don't know for sure) and has a lot of health problems, so he probably doesn't have much time left. I was very young the last time we had to put a pet down and wasn't aware of the decision, but this has been bothering me more than I thought it would. :/
- Sad story, don't read unless you want to be sad.:
- Thanks, Eldo. Last time we put a dog down I was eight years old. I did something that I'll never forgive myself for. The night before Chester was put down I yelled at him over something trivial (mind you, I was not aware that he was going to be put down until like 10 minutes before my parents left with him). I can never forgive myself for doing that. He was sick and I was just being a stupid jerk. When they left to take him away my brother and I were crying our eyes out and I hugged Chester, I don't know if he had forgiven me, or if he even knew what was going on. I have never gotten over that incident and it bothers me 16 years later. But I have gone out of my way to make sure that I am always patient with Lucky (the current family pet). I will try to find some pictures of her to post.
Sorry about the sad note again.
But HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEOPOLD!!!!!! He is so cute, Norc! You are very lucky!

Re: the all Dog thread!
- Spoiler:
- That's my worst nightmare, Bungo, that something should happen to a pet or a person I care about after I have yelled at or been a dick to them. But it is in our nature to feel guilty in those situations, but you could never have known. It is easy for me to say and hard for you to do, but you shouldn't feel guilty about it, especially since you have already done so all this time

- Spoiler:
- Thanks, Ringo. And I'm doing my best to avoid having a similar incident this time around. I can't change what happened, but I can change how I approach the future.

Loepold looks great Nora!
I was gonna ask as I thought you said he had his own Facebook or Twitter or something. Tumblr it is.
You can tell him happy birthday from me if you have the bother.

Can't help but love that face.
The snow beard and booties complete him.
But you are a cruel, cruel mistress.

I think it suits him.
After all he does have the hair for it.

Re: the all Dog thread!
Here are some pics of Lucky. (We have a million nicknames for her, but we usually just call her Dee.)
She likes going for walks in her stroller.
Camping with my parents this summer.
Dinner! She gets a mix of dry kibble and soft food topped with veggies!
Sleepy. She does a lot of sleeping these days. I guess that's what happens when you get old.

Re: the all Dog thread!
omg! she has a metal ball in her food just as Leopold!!! it's his favorite toy XD we bought it so he wouldn't eat so fast.. because when he was little we were very eager to do everything right when we had a puppy so we followed the instructions on the package as to how much for what size puppy. needless to say he needed more food and became very thin and ate like he'd never get a second meal for the rest of his life. so we bought the metal ball because it was on sale and it would make eat slower (cus u can't take such huge bites) . it worked. the immense burping has stopped and he actually eats at a normal pace. here's him with his favourite toy :)and his second-best.. a stick.
Re: the all Dog thread!
She's adorable! I'm not sure that counts as a walk though.bungobaggins wrote:She likes going for walks in her stroller.
Re: the all Dog thread!
She's a real sweetheart. And it does too count as a walk when you're a 14 and a half year old dog!

Re: the all Dog thread!
It's funny how having a circular dish with an orb in the middle slows their eating. Lucky used to eat as if it were going out of fashion. Now her eating has really slowed, and she was having trouble a couple weeks ago with starting and finishing her dinners. She seems to be doing better now. My mom mixes salmon oil and some dog fiber powder into her food, when she stopped putting those things in her food, she seemed to be more enthusiastic about eating. (Although we think it's more the fault of the fiber powder than the salmon oil.)Norc wrote:omg! she has a metal ball in her food just as Leopold!!! it's his favorite toy XD we bought it so he wouldn't eat so fast.. because when he was little we were very eager to do everything right when we had a puppy so we followed the instructions on the package as to how much for what size puppy. needless to say he needed more food and became very thin and ate like he'd never get a second meal for the rest of his life. so we bought the metal ball because it was on sale and it would make eat slower (cus u can't take such huge bites) . it worked. the immense burping has stopped and he actually eats at a normal pace. here's him with his favourite toy :)and his second-best.. a stick.
