I'm gonna be in the same boat as you shortly, Lorient. I'm just glad that college has a long winter break. This is my last break ever though since I'm graduating in May.

You're graduating from college in May?! Aren't you only 18. Or do you mean High School?

I got grade-skipped a couple of times so I've gone through the whole college process early.

Nice, what do you think of it happening that way? Do you think its better, or would you have liked to have progressed normally?

It worked out more or less okay for me, but I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone else. I know several other people who've taken a similar path though and it really varies from person to person. I sometimes wonder if I'm too cynical, but all in all I don't think starting college before the age of 16 or 17 at the youngest is a great idea.

Yea I figured as much, I can't imagine its great socially.

I've been fortunate to meet a lot of great and understanding people, and as I've gotten older it's become less apparent that I'm younger than normal (at this point I basically blend in entirely, hell I'm the same age is most incoming freshman) but yeah, there is definitely a layer of awkwardness present. It doesn't do much for the dating scene, either. :/

When you're 14 and everyone around is 18-19 or older, yes.

I think it really depends on the person, and the age in question. But in Eldo's situation, I think its a totally different case.

That's awesome Eldo that you were able to find people who could make things better and easier for you. What did you do your first couple of years before you could drive?

My mom drove me back and forth for the first few semesters. During breaks I'd just chill in the library or wherever so I'd be on campus almost all day if I had classes that day. I actually lived on campus for a couple of years too but I'm at living at home again now.

I'm majoring in political science, but the most important thing I've learned in the course of this major is that I don't want a career in political science. It's given me plenty of fodder for Internet arguments, though. In all seriousness, I'd love to make a living writing somehow, but that will most likely stay a hobby or at best a side-gig for the foreseeable future.

I remember having to walk everywhere when I was 14-16 because I always had friends to hang out with. Now I drive but am home alone 24/7 because I failed two years of school and all my old friends have moved away and I'm still in school

I wish I could walk more places but I'm deep in suburbia so even if I walk for an hour or more all I pass are endless houses and strip malls.

I honestly do like the place where I live, I just sometimes wish I was closer to school and other people I know so I didn't have to drive as much. *shrug*

Public transportation outside of the city proper is very sporadic and impractical. Actually, Baltimore is pretty bad even downtown compared to, say, DC. We do have some buses in our neighborhood, which is more than some of my friends can say, but they don't take you that many places except into the city.

If you're really sick won't they let you take it later? The flu is nothing to fuck with. Besides, if I was a teacher I think I'd want the sick students to stay home so they don't accidentally infect anyone else.
