G'Day Orwell. I have been watching MAFSAU and there are some seriously weird Ozzy accents out there. What with the accent that goes up a notch at the end of a sentence.

Not sure what Aussie accent you are talking about, but here we have a young woman affectation that ends sentences of fact as though they are questions, implying that the speaker is not one that expects herself to be taken seriously. It's know as "upspeak" among circles that discuss such things.

The Aussie accent? I was once told that (non?) Aussies can tell the accents of a Victorian and a Queenslander apart. Got me fooked how, but thank Eru! As to any upflicks, ticks or licks, Julia, not all of us have it. Not sure we’re all that homogenised. Especially me.

I think the everything sounds like a question in Aussie probably comes from the first settlers who couldnt believe all the horrible things they found there so spent the first few generations mainly saying "What the fuck was that?" "What the fuck is that?" "I only went for a swim whats eating my leg!?" and such }}

I think its probably dangerous critters led them to half all their words too, 'G'day', "Barby" and such. There just isnt the time for full words when something hairy and with too many legs might crawl up your kilt Plus they need to save all their vowels for their place names }}

We’ve evolved. We now say, “Who the fuck cares, we’re going to die anyway.” “Who the fuck swims in Australia, except foreigners?” Of course, we’re thinning out the human gene pool. Mostly foreigners visiting. To save our aquatic species we encourage tourists.

I think you mean the indigenous folk. It’s something o do an irony they didn’t have ‘vowels’ as such when we convicts first invaded and conquered... err... colonised...
