Not that most of us care, but just an FYI.

My wife will probably round out the set... Not that I really care but she has bought me all of the films so far on Blueray. I just have to tell her to wait for the EE. I have to admit I like the behind the scenes footage even though i hate the film

I looked at the iTunes extras and there's really diddlysquat on this theatrical release. Not even worth a glance if you're really into the special features.

That sucks... they were the best part of the Hobbit films
Honestly i think Jackson just wants to be done with them since they didn't get the response he had hoped for other than at TORn. I know so many people disappointed with the Hobbit films that LOVE LOTR.

Re: BOFA Theatrical Release available today on demand, DVD/Blu ray March 24th
I guess I've really unplugged from the Hobbit news cycle since seeing BOFA both times. I didn't even know that they had announced a date. This feels really early, though the March 24 date is in line with the previous two years I guess. I wonder if the DVD release will be day-and-date in other markets.
Also, the theatrical edition box set releases on the same day (3/24) and I actually quite like the artwork, even though it's a bit of an obvious LOTR callback. (Amazon link.) I notice that there is no "There and Back Again" subtitle. I wonder if PJ is saving that for the EE box set or if he was just saying it to get some of the fanboys off his back about the title change.

Wasn't that the case with DOS-TE too? I know AUJ-TE had the vlogs but those were all previously released online and there wasn't really anything new on the disc. I think they realize that most everyone who cares about special features is buying the EE anyway so they haven't bothered making an alternate set of docs.

Definitely the latter. I'll put money on it.

Re: BOFA Theatrical Release available today on demand, DVD/Blu ray March 24th
I gotta be honest, I didn't see the Firefox resemblance (I was just thinking Ring like Figgy was), but I can't unsee it now.
And yeah, I lean towards the latter too, bungo. Though I didn't really understand the number of complaints about the title change. I never felt TABA was a "perfect" title or whatever for only a part of the story. I still maintain that it should have been two parts individually subtitled There and Back Again.

Maybe they will title the whole trilogy "There and Back Again" with the wonderful Subtitles of AUJ, DOS, and TBOTFA ... we all know it needs another title in there

Well...if it's 4 hours long - one will do. If it's good.

Re: BOFA Theatrical Release available today on demand, DVD/Blu ray March 24th
I'll probably watch the EE for completion's sake. Not sure if I'll go through with my plan of marathoning the completed trilogy in order to write a single review/analysis of it. I'm not sure if it really needs one.
Re: BOFA Theatrical Release available today on demand, DVD/Blu ray March 24th
I watched the EE of DOS once, and I'll do the same for BOTFA, not sure if I could face a marathon!
I'm really waiting for the 'Ultimate Edition' of LOTR...

I still don't think there's going to be one of those. Not one that changes the cut of the movie itself.

I wouldn't want Jackson to go George Lucas on us (or at least if he wants to-it's his film afterall, keep the original versions as a option), I'm just interested in seeing the deleted scenes.

At least it might mean us getting a purist edit sooner rather than later.

Deleted scenes and bloopers would both be appreciated, I agree.
