Re: The Needlehole Mysteries
Finished part two! I fear you may have failed slightly in making Mr and Mrs Figg sound very romantic - it was kind of gropey if you know what I mean, and I am sure their love would have been pure as driven snow, just as the real Mrs Figg and mine is!
I'm regretful in one sense that I did not stay with the story as it came out, but I think I had distractions at the time and fell out of sync and then had trouble getting the time (and energy) to catch up. But the wait has probably been worthwhile, as I've come back fresh, and get the added enjoyment of reading the commentaries and banter of my beloved Forumshirans!
Wonderful stuff, Eldo. Must say, your plotting is excellent, but it's your handle on conversation (dialogue), and your grasp of characterization that really impresses me.
Hopefully, I'll get to part three very soon (maybe even tomorrow morning if all goes well).
Then it's on to Mrs Figg and Haddon Hall! Yippee!
Oh yes, Eldo and Nora's growing 'attchment' made me feel all squirmy and embarrassed - in fact made me feel exactly like I did when I was a year or two younger than I am now, and only beginning to find my way with the ladies! That's high praise btw - you put me there and I felt like I was intruding. (Actually, you had a couple of moments with Ringo a ways back, I seem to remember --- and oh boy! didn't I feel like I was intruding then! )

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries
There was a bit of an explosion of creative activity back then, Mrs Figg. I know I had trouble keeping up at one particular stage - especially as I had other irons in my creative fire too (as well as mortal life-things interfering).
And people don't always respond even if they have read stuff I reckon. That's the way of things in Forumshire. Free to read, free to comment, free to not to comment, free to overlook - free spirits!
I for one was enjoying the early parts of Haddon Hall, I just got side tracked as I did with The Needlehole Mysteries. Always WANTED to read Haddon Hall and The Mysteries, just got... err... distracted!
I'll make it all up to you by reading Haddon Hall as soon as the opportunity (and mood) arises, and after that, I'll find to fly by Banks Eagle Airlines to Tuscany to show you PROPER appreciation, if you know what I mean, and I think you do! You know, what with shiftwork and video making, time is in so short supply for this brawny but sensitive hobbit!
Forumshiran Dictionary: 'Boggle' - to 'think' in a way that makes no connection with anything real or imagined either in reality or in unreality, and often causing one to stand with wide eyes and an incredulous expression, while leaning slightly, especially in Market Places.

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries
Thanks so much for your feedback, Orwell! I'm glad you found the time to read the stories. I'm trying to get back my rhythm when it comes to writing fiction; having encouragement from Norc (who wants more stuff to illustrate) and the rest of you guys is definitely helpful. I'm still trying to do better with thinking out the plot further ahead; the third story is probably the most planned-out one so far but it's still a bit seat-of-the-pants.
I'm really glad you like the characters and the dialogue. I sometimes wonder if I write too much dialogue and I've been trying to experiment with other styles of writing, but it's what I feel most comfortable with. It might be from watching too many Tarantino movies.

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries
I have a particular mental picture at the moment - and I am at struggle. Do I be a Gentlehobbit (and avert my gaze)? Or do I continue to stare! ... As to the 'struggle', it's well known I am weak willed...

Daaaaayum I look good.
I'm sorry to have left this thread so empty. I still want to finish the story but no promises on dates. Sorry Norc.

- Nora reminds me a lot of Leela (and that's a good thing in my book, cause she is totally kickass)

that's okay ^^ then I'll just draw whatever I want and you'll just have to follow it lol (no, not really, write what you want of course)
AND! as Amarië says! LET THE SHIPPING BEGIN!! WOOP WOOP!!!!!
yeah, what is your favorite ship at the moment?
Re: The Needlehole Mysteries
Hey! if this takes too long, maybe some fan fiction is appropriate? Amarë? Anyone else?
Re: The Needlehole Mysteries
I can't quite decide, Nora and Eldo are adorable, but I think I am favorite ship is still Eldo/Ringo. Perhaps Eldo's mysterious late night rescuer might stir up things. And some fan fic might be in order.
Nora and Ringo, the Fjordlandian adventures.
The Ambassador and the baker. Chapter one: Fjordian cookies are best served cold.

Re: The Needlehole Mysteries
yess!!!!! How about turns, you start and do a block, then I follow up? and then people can join in as they like? that could be interesting ?

That might work.
I just skimmed over the chapters and realized I really wanted to see this happen:

“You're a Fjordlandian too?” interrupted Amarie. “How lovely! We should have a party with traditional Fjordlandian dress and cuisine. To think that there would be so many of us here in this one village!”
