Any reason you're re-posting the links I already posted on Bree-land yesterday? Suspect

EDIT: Ah, so you're responding to your own request on Bree-land. Laughing You could have just bookmarked the login link, you know; that's even easier. Wink

I like coming here, and when things are slow, I like to pop over to Bree. Makes Bree-Land feel like it's one of our out-lying towns which I vacation in now and then. Remwember too, that the Hobbit Movie News was Home to us at one stage... before we became Refugees. I'm a sentimental chap, all said and done.

I still go back there sometimes too, though I'm not as active on most forums other than this one in general. I just wondered why you needed a link to Bree-land from here, but I understand now. Wink

Perhaps we should have a "favorite" links thread, Eldo. That way we could step out from our front door (in Forumshire) and end up just about anywhere. Maybe then Forumshire would be like that Wood with all the pools in The Magicians Nephew. Oh how magical a Thread like that would be! Very Happy

Are you thinking favorite Tolkien-related site for Hobbit news and other stuff, or favorite sites about everything? Because the latter might be a bit ambitious since I'm sure we all have different favorites and interests.

Well, if Forumshire posted their "favorites" and not just any new link they could find (and here we would have to trust people not to make it a dumping ground for just anything sparkly-shiny that momentarily takes their shallow interest), I suppose an "anything goes" approach would be fine. We are, afterall (loosely speaking) a Democracy. Of course, it would be pointless to have 4 billion (or 5 billion) links.

I bet Petty could come up with his favorite "Who" site. And Mrs Figg her favorite "Pussy" site. You, yourself, could bring up some of your most favorite sites, however boring they are likely to be, because, you never know, there might be some other utterly boring person just like you out there who is interested in what you're interested in.

And you don't need to thank me, Eldo, helpful suggestions come easily to me. Very Happy

Can I at least thank you for consistently making me giggle? lol!

Anyway, go ahead and start such a thread, if you like. Or we could make this thread into such a portal. It's up to you.

Speaking of hidden corners of Bree-land, check this out, Orwell. Smile

An archive! Shocked It goes back for five pages, to the founding of Bree. Why Taz hides these things is beyond me.

THE STORY OF FORUMSHIRE AND BREE-LAND.

The Original Hobbit Movie News was absorbed in a hostile take over into Tolkien Planet (Dark Planet to Forumshirer's), sold lock stock and barrel, ans without warning. The refugees (not wanting to be consumed by Dark Planet, started their own, with Eldo doing the work, and others financing the venture. Then a new Hobbit Movie News was started and new folk got it going - in some ways they were reminiscent of the original Hobbit News Folk. At least, in their being obvious "Free Spirits." Forumshirers found out about them and went to visit, being made most welcome. We invited them back, thinking of them as fellow hobbits, but from just beyond the border of Forumshire (kin, but their own folk too - and a little strange). We called them Bree-landers. And we invited them to visit Forumshire. So nowadays folk go back and forth between Forumshire and Bree-land, and we all get on fabulously. Some of the Dark Planet visit here, of course - because we are welcoming folk in Forumshire - even if certain Forumshirer's are NOT welcome in Dark Planet.

THE END.
