Barrett of course wrote a song which pretty much summed up that sentiment about Dylan up; Bob Dylan Blues. Had it on repeat after I really got into his solo stuff. Though he really liked Dylan, as I do.

Actually not a bad film, all things considered. He had his moments- boots of spanish leather, (popped into my head because it's from the same album as hollis brown) I'd say is pretty sincere. But then again some of my favourite songs of his; Masters of War, Chimes of Freedom, Desolation Row, Tangled up in Blue I wouldn't want written any other way.

Maybe it's just how he does "theatre" (peformance)-- the 'acting' part. I don't doubt his gifts as a poet/lyricist per se. Others perform their songs with full respect to their songs. He seems to hang shit on his own songs (by his interprations of them performance-wise) too often, and therefore he seems over-cynical to his audience. Mind you, fans like his attitude. It's just not one I care for. Other Artists seem to respect their fans and try not to be High and Mighty and Contemptuous.

Its a bit boybandy for my tastes Norc, although they seem musically better than the average boyband. I would hazard a guess that were I teenage girl rather than a drunken old scotshobbit I would like it more (and get more dates).

Orwell the Sex Pistols never respected their audeience but I still like them- it can be pulled off, its all in what sort of attitude its conveyed I suppose.

are you refering to the first one or the last one I posted? (because the last one is a joke) and the first one is just one person and it's not boyband, it's soul. do your research.

The Sex Pistols were cynical through and through. It's what they were. Dylan puts on an artificial air of, "I'm a poet, made cynical by life, alas!" But he also seems to hold his fans (and other humans) in a kind of contempt, which is cynicism as well, but not the type I care for as I said above. If he was a true Cynic and Great Soul, he'd give away his money and turn his back on poetry, like Jesus did. There is Cynicism of a Philosophical Humane sort, and there is a nasty kind of cynicism, which you can make money from - just ask Bobby!
