Actually, listening to this, I now know one of the influences of my best mate's guitar style too!

You know I should get him to give me a copy of some of our early adlib songs and upload them. You'd think we were on drugs - but we weren't - honest...

Not to say that we never drank or puffed ( )(I was only Seventeen or so!), but not when creating.

Actually those things made me write self-indulgent inane crap - not unlike what I do here, come to think! That 'take drugs and release your (better) creativity" bullshit is largely crap, you know!

I agree about drugs not =creativity. Sort of.
But I would say having the experience of drugs alters perception in a way that long afterwards can still be useful in how you interpret the world artistically in so much that it gives you a different view as a contrast and different experiences and sensations to draw on.
That would also be true of say getting drunk or parachuting for the first time.

I feel sad - what with all the drugs that have addled your brain over the years Petty (I mean, it's clear by your posts here that you've suffered a loss of brain cells!) - about what you might have come up with artistically, had you not destroyed said brain cells!

I lost more brain cells smashing my head off the cinema wall watching TT I reckon.

And Im afraid when it comes to brain cells the buckie claims more than any other substance known to man, outside of decapitation.

well, obvously, I know who you are.. not so sure about the two dozens of russian people at the camp, though.. I might have to go through my firends one more time and delete people I have never talked to...

the music camp went great. The concert and everything. Vivaldi's summer just sounded awesome! I only had to fake playing on one piece, something we got that same week, though no one noticed. The russian viola player in front of me god a laugh attack during the concert and started crying because some of the youngest one second violin played insainly out of tune (no one heard them fortunately, but the ones closest).

I'm glad it went well. It sounds like a lot of fun! It's good to have you back, though.

Reminds me of when a friend and I used to 'write' daddaist poetry on the boring train ride to Glasgow- we'd jot down random words we saw on the journey-- a bit of newspaper or magazine headline- billboards, station signs, anything.

I've actually stood on the corner in the Bronx where they may have first performed that song. This isn't quite doo-wop, but close to it. Why this style of music went out of style will always mystify me. Why toss out perfection?

Classic film that doesnt get the credit it deserves.

Love that song, I listened to it so many times when HP8 came out. It's still one of my favorites from the entire series. Alexandre Desplat did a great job with the soundtrack on the final film.

I really love this track from Prisoner of Azkaban too.
