And oh, I've lost my love for forums, so that's not a problem! In fact the internet generally is pretty dull these days! I think after nearly seven years of near constant use I'm all interneted out! They're just sooo boring and time consuming- apart from this one.

Talking of glasses, I broke a glass today! It fell out of the sideboard because some stupid member of my family had placed two inside of one another!

I have a complaint. Pretty has made more posts on the Dark Planet in the last 2 day than I have made here!! Where did everyone go? There better not be an unexpected party somewhere I've not been invited to!!

Graduation ceremony and party last night, came home about an hour ago! Got to love the feeling when you wake up somewhere and you've got no idea where you are..

Well a buckie party- now thats an exceptable excuse.

I slept in really late yesterday and then I was out for the better part of the afternoon and evening having dinner and seeing the HD remaster of The Fellowship of the Ring at a movie theatre with friends.

It was pretty wild. I never saw the movies when they first came out so I can't say how much of the increased picture and sound quality was just the theatre-going experience or the remaster, but it was like seeing the film for the first time all over again. I noticed so many things I'd never seen before and the film was just gorgeous (sorry Petty. ).

What? Not watching the megaedit with friends?!! If you make your friends sit through PJ's version Eldo its a sure fire way to end up with less friends!!!

I hope Norwegian theatres do the same, would've loved to see that

Why would films shot on digital need remastered into HD- weren't they in HD already? (Not a big fan either of upscaling stuff to HD that wasn't meant for HD- can be done well but can also show up a lot flaws not originally evident, depending on the age of film being upscaled).

I can see if the theatre is willing to show your megaedit after they finish wish PJ's trilogy. The megaedit doesn't come with a special message from PJ, though.

As I understand it, the films were shot using, well, film -- which is of higher resolution than DVD or HD (1080p) quality. I think the remaster goes back to the original film and uses that to make the new HD copy for distribution. I think they also fixed a lot of the CGI work, since it's been almost 10 years and is starting to look dated (although it didn't really start to do so until very recently).

I think they are gearing up for the Blu-ray release of the EEs, which is on the same day in the US (June 28) as the one-night showing of ROTK. I don't know when the Blu-ray comes out elsewhere, but it would make sense to me that they'd do the same thing with showing the movies in theatres.

I was a bit surprised - but pleasantly so - at how many people showed up, since the theatre was packed. I was talking with some of the people sitting around us and there were a lot of devoted older fans who wanted to see the film again and there were a number of younger (kids and early teens) people who were taken along by family members or friends who loved the films. I was wondering if that was the next generation of LOTR fans being created. Sadly, it might just be the next generation of fangirls, since I heard a number of people behind us gushing over how gorgeous Aragorn and Legolas were.

I don't think its fair to blame PJ just because some of the people watching his movies can't look past the pretty faces.

Now, now Eldo as you know too well PJ is too blame for EVERYTHING.
