I often think we cant surely be the only humanoid thing in the cosmos ?! Still begs the question..Who made the people/aliens ? & who made that ?, & on & on it goes. Much like "the chicken & egg" syndrome.

Ok, I admit it. It was me. I started it all. I was drunk that day. Can we just leave it now?

If space and time are fundamentally the same thing (hence, "spacetime"), then why do we talk about the creation of the universe as if there was a time before it existed? Seems to be a contradiction in terms. Is it even possible that something could have created the universe? Can one speak of causality at all if you are discussing a state in which time itself does not exist? Is it even possible for the universe to have ever not existed?
Have I blown your mind yet?

Re: Oddities, curiousities and strangness in history
Are you trying to say that time & space are as one,in perpetual motion, & that everything thats ever happened, happened all at once, in one single second. All there is, is now, theres no yesterday, no tomorrow. Theres only this living breathing second.

Re: Oddities, curiousities and strangness in history
no no no. Space-time is not like that at all.
Imagine 3 dimensions of space, call them length, width and depth if you like. Draw them as 3 axes aligned like the edges of a cube at the corner, so they're all perpendicular. Now imagine a time-line like in a history book. OK?
Now the tricky part. Imagine passing the time line through the intersection (corner) of the other three lines in such a way that it's perpendicular to all of them. I know, it's not intuitive, but it's not that hard with some practice. That's the simple version of classic 4-dimensional space-time, and we live in it every day. It's just that we're always moving at a (mostly) constant speed along the time axis.
There, did that help?
No?
OK then, ask Halfy. He's better at explaining these things.

Re: Oddities, curiousities and strangness in history
Its a big ball of timey-wimey stuff to quote the Doctor.
Or the WSOGMM (whole sort of general mishmash) accoring the Hitchikers Guide. The good thing about the WSOGMM is you can slice it and dice it from any angle you like and you'll always find somewhere that something will call home.
