Liked Hawkeye alot. Really good.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Wheel of Time. Reminded me of Lord of the Rings for some reason. Think it was the similar quotes they used. Even the Trollicks reminded me of Orcs. Not to mention some dark Lord and a bloke that looks like the mouth of Sauron. And the Arwen look alike on her white horse.

Not bad though, will stick it out to the end.

I started watching a bit of that in the middle, and saw that they were way off the original story: riding camels somewhere.  I lost interest too soon to realize it was David Tennant. When you jump into something in the middle you want to feel it's familiar, or you get royally hacked off and leave.

But I loved David Tennant in Casanova, with Peter O'Toole playing the older version relating the story in flashback to a young Rose Byrne. That was all kinds of fun.

Can you stream it from the beginning?, its pretty good. The girl is from Babylon Berlin the German TV show, but her English accent is perfect.

Whatch the last 5 episodes of Wheel of Time on the spin. Was like watching a long movie. Never read the books so just watched it for what it was. I like fantasy so I thought it was OK. Not a classic. Got to be better then all those cop shows, cooking shows and boring reality TV shows.

I actually like cooking shows if well done, but it helps if they are combined with travel. Also helps if you are eating at the time.

So around the world in 80 days is using the story as more of a launch pad for a series based on the basic idea and characters, not simply a retelling. Sort of like the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie was used as a model for the series. That's acceptable. I thought the show I saw was okay, not great. The main characters don't have any special chemistry for each other.

Oh the competitions are crap.   I'm kinda wondering why air fryers get all this buzz, let us know in the cuisine thread.

My concern with steak is that you have no carmelized fond on the pan to make a pan sauce from, but perhaps there's a trade-off for a juicier steak.

I didn't feel much ensemble chemistry in the show that I watched. The actors were competent, I think it was the writing.

Gave it another try, the line "what is the meaning of this" was followed by "I have never been so humiliated in all my life". No, not impressed.

I wasn't expecting high brow, just good old fashioned adventurous fun. For me it delivered in spades. I enjoy Tennant in whatever he does, I like the red haired actress because I marvel at her perfect English accent. At first I read criticisms about it being too 'woke' because there is a woman and a Black guy in it, but it made perfect sense to me and made it more interesting not less. I enjoyed that element of the characters fighting against stereotypes of the late 19c.

It has some good things going for it, but I expect more from Masterpiece Theatre. I don't hate it, just somewhat annoyed they couldn't have gotten better writers.

I'll have to get a Disney subcription for a month to binge watch, so am waiting for season 3 of the Mandalorian to come out first.
