Is this a glimpse of the future ? We are being monitored so much & details are kept about us. Theres street cameras & shop cameras & stories of Google intrusions. Companies that can intercept your details & goings on in your daily life. ( tho it does read like a discussion between Rimmer & Kryton )

This is why I have such an aversion to facebook and also google products. I once took some ridiculous little quiz not connected to anything else, and facebook immediately notified all of my "friends" how I had scored on it. Infuriated me. Yes, you can go in and turn it off, but it was ON by default. So I deeply despise facebook. And google isn't much better.

Metal Fairies

The Party Tree is dead. For the last 15 years near my home the Party tree has stood tall and beautiful, you could see it for miles, it was green and lovely, and this year it suddenly died. It is all brown and crows settle in its branches and caw! caw!, as if to mourn it's passing.  Something of the magic of the place died with the tree.

You never took a picture of it for us.

I do have a photo I will post it asap.

Looks healthy enough in that photo, what could have killed it so quickly?

I have no idea, it was healthy last year, it is bizarre.  what can kill a massive tree so quickly? insects would take years, and I think poisoning would take years too, maybe it was hit by something?

I don't know what species it is, if it is Elm maybe it got Dutch Elm disease or something.

btw, if you get the general google app on your cellphone, you need merely take a picture of the leaves and it will identify it for you. The leaves are gone now, but if you know another tree is the same you can try it.

I don't have a cellphone.   I will do it the old-fashioned way and find a leaf on the ground and use a book.

Oh, when you took that video of your walk around the neighborhood I assumed you used a cellphone.

I used a tablet, and I also used a small camera with a video option. I have a cell phone, but not a smart phone. The quality of the images recorded on the tablet is rubbish. I might buy a better one. I have resisted buying a smart phone, but they are very useful I guess.
