This is really hopeful: a nasal vaccine is being developed. Likely won't be ready for a year, but it seems we'll be dealing with variants for a while. Nasal vaccinations can simply be mailed to people to use themselves, and this form doesn't require refrigeration.

{{ That would be brilliiant. Been interesting on one level to see humanity pulling together all our knowledge and capalities to counter this virus.
One is hopeful for two things, first that we will now take such threats seriously and be on a footing ready to go should another arise (which it will) with proper long term funding and planning put in place on a global level.
And secondly, more hopefully perhaps, that the realisation we achieve such heights when together impresses upon the global psyche and encourages greater futrure cooperation and less attempts to take over the world!

Asia responded much better to the virus because they've had it before. The West will be better next time around, but we'll always have nutjobs in America yammering on about freedom.

Wiped out smallpox (um, at least temporarily), which was a worldwide effort because it had to be.

I haven't read anything about a pill, just nasal innoculation. So long as it doesn't have to be refrigerated and is easy to administer I think there's hope for a global effort.

Well, we seems to be qoelrrying about ourselves as a priority but also doing at least something for the poorer nations. I believe some African countries have started to get their first vaccine shipments which is good.

As Halfy said, it is in our own best interests to sort this out otherwise the virus will keep circulating in big numbers and will have more chances to mutate.

Hope it goes well for you Petty. I had a stonking headache after my jab, but it soon went away with co-codamol. The worst for me was a really painful arm, the one that was jabbed. It felt like it was in a vice. It cleared up after 2 days completely. The jab worries me not & IL be looking forward to the 2nd one & lets just get this over with & try to have a normal life.

My parents had theirs and were full of flu like symptoms for a day but by day 2 were fine. Had a few people say they had a painful arm as Az reports so I would prepare yourself for a day or two off!

The blood clot thing sounds odd. Not sure if there was a dodgy batch but the overall numbers of clots vs vaccine suggests it is not vaccine related.

My parents are both in their 80's and said they experienced nothing.  Supposedly the stronger your immune system, the stronger the reaction, so having no reaction is NOT a good thing.

{{ Roughly one hour since got the vaccine- astrazenaca, of course! Arms a bit sore, and slight sweat but so far nothing else. According to the side effects thing they give you can take up to 48hrs to get side effects so long way to go yet! }}

As to the flu symptoms whenever I got the flu vaccine 3 days later I got a heavy horrible cold, so I stopped having it. I know that the AZ vaccine will make me ill but its worth it, so worth it.

Figgy... not sure what you expect after getting a vaccine? The whole point is to trigger an immune response so if you get those symptoms it means it is working!
