That's a great idea! Be nice to start that here. I'd include grocery store staff as second tier - those folks are exposing themselves but working hard as always.

{{ Was same here, everyone hanging out windows clapping and cheering. Personally, as well as NHS staff I had all my care worker mates and in mind too who are still there going to work everyday protecting the most vulnerable in our society.
I take my hat off to everyone in our health system right now, and all the little shops staying open despite the risk of customers coming in and out, the transport drivers still taking folk to hospitals and doctors appointments- and all the kitchen staff, cleaners and porters who keep the whole thing moving behind the scenes and never get any credit.

The won't Az. I have been keeping an eye on social media channels and it seems the hard-core are just doubling down on this to try and make sure those commie bastards don't take this opportunity to do something like spend money to save some lives.

It seems they are happy when their tax dollars are spent on blowing ship up and taking lives but it suddenly becomes a socialist and therefore communist problem when it is spent on anything else.

Trump's comments about ventilators is the most shocking thing he's said in a career of shocking things. And thinking you can open up for business in the midwest because the virus isn't serious there yet will certainly help things along. Though I do agree with the idea of going on like normal for as long as possible if a complete shutdown for a few weeks can blunt the final blow. I'm not sure that's the way he's thinking, he's probably naive enough to think that if it's not bad now it will stay that way.

Here's some modelling, which matches mine pretty danged well. They are modelling hospital beds etc but the shapes and timing line up with what I calculated for infections.

It will be over by early summer, at least in the US. We'll get re-infection from outside but there will be some herd immunity by then.

So I'm curious Halfy, what are the assumptions on which the decline following April 15 are based?
It would seem to me there are so many unknowns at this point, and so many variables that we're right now in the process of tweaking, that it would be hard to make a meaningful prediction at this point.
So I'm assuming some fairly broad assumptions. No? Shrugging
