That's my bet. By all accounts he's been a germaphobe all his life. So even as he boasts about not seeing himself wearing a mask, you'll notice you'll never see his hands go anywhere near his face, and I'll bet he can tell you the last thing he touched and has hand sanitizer in his pocket for the first chance he gets off-camera.
I'll also bet he sees the pandemic as proving that he was right about germs all along. If the Chinese had been washing their hands like he does, we wouldn't be in this mess!

That seems a tad paranoid in these circumstances. Social distaincing and lockdowns are proving to be effective in reducing cases in countries right across the globe. This isnt just the US governors trying to control its population or remove freedoms, we are all having to do this hard as it is, lots of us have lost our jobs to it and are facing a lot of uncertainty and for now a lot of personal freedom to choose what to do with our days is gone too- but for a necessary common good. And thats where Americas seem to have an issue, the common good, its seems increasingly a look out only for yourself society and screw anyone else, probably why you dont have a real healthcare system, to many Americans dont want to pay for others who are ill to get treatment. And now those same Americans dont want to give up their personal freedoms for the common good either. America seems to have a sizeable section that lack utterly a sense of solidarity and supporting each other which has only grown much worse under Trump's leadership. }}

The interesting thing is, older ultra-capitalists are willing to risk losing a few more elderly citizens on behalf the greater economic good. But I fear these great martyrs don’t include themselves among those whom we will lose! Seriously, these protests are just a loony distraction, not representative of any significant portion of the population any more the 5G guys (and at least so far less destructive).

Look, I'm all for social isolation, distancing, closing businesses etc. and so are almost everybody I know, and I live in a pretty libertarian area. It's REALLY hard as you say, bu it's for the good of everybody. Ours was the first state to have a confirmed Covid 19 case and the first to have Covid 19 deaths, but due to a quick start at both the state and county level, we were also one of the first to flatten our curve and decline.

The only real frustrations you find, as far as I can tell, are when it appears that the rules are being enforced differently according to privilege.

I know some people who are currently wrestling with the question of having the government track their movements for contact tracing, public good vs. giving the government an Orwellian tool, but that discussion will play out in the state legislature as it should.

{{ I watched Trumps press briefing earlier- it was frankly terrifying and unhinged. His plan to reopen is crazy, America was behind most other countries in going into lockdown and now its trying to be first to come out of it. The risk in that is massive.
The US is already the world leader in covid infections and deaths, not a record to be proud of, this has the potential to make that even worse.

Got to say that I have been very impressed by the Italian government. PM Conte in particular has done a good job. Despite the horrendous images coming out of Lombardy the Protezione Civile has done sterling work to protect everyone. I guess its because they were set up to deal with earthquakes and other natural disasters that they can mobilize quickly and en masse. Compared with the UK governments handling the difference is stark. The Italian press is calling the Cummings/Johnson herd immunity thing a 'Nazi' policy and cruel. Which it is. I think that communities which value civic responsibility over individualism are coming out of this better right round the world. That's why New Zealand and South Korea are winning the battle.
