and LOVE the dynamic between JodieDoc and the companions- Amarie
{{ What dynamic?! they all stand in a row while she expositions at them and occasionally they take turns in saying a line in wooden fashion. Wheres the dynamism?
'the plot twists were unexpected and good'
Ill give you unexpected- I dont think anyone expected Chibballs to rip up 50 years of lore and character development on a rubbish ill-thought out premise.
As to thrilled about the last epiosde- on that one I have yet to find someone who was thrilled by it, best Ive seen on Who forums, youtube and the like is - the lore stuff doesnt bother me, so it was ok.
Which doesnt seem very thrilled.
Hopefully the evaporating audience for this badly written rubbish will set off some alarm bells at the BBC. }}

Re: All New Who
It's like those of us who scratch our heads and wonder how anyone could still love Trump, but they do. People I know and are friends with, even. You just have accept that people you love and respect can nontheless be seeing the universe through an entirely different and mutually incomprehensible perspective.
Amarië wrote:She does have fans. Some have watched some but not all of season 1-7 of New who and LOVE the dynamic between JodieDoc and the companions, thinks the plot twists were unexpected and good, is thrilled about the last episode and can hardly wait for the special.
And some click "like" on such a post.
And some think "don't reply. Don't reply. Leave it. This person has seen Donna Noble and Martha and Rose and prefers this. There's nothing you can do. Don't reply."
That is at least a sort of bright spot in the past Who discussions. We always thought the other party could see the light. We always thought we had enough in common and similar sense of taste, so the frustration of not agreeing made us bonkers and angry. Those who like Chibber's Who... They are not my people.

{{ Not harsh enough!
Im at point that Chibbers era has been so poor, so destructive to the show and the character of the Doctor that in my head canon 12 refused to regenerate and choose death rather than become this
In all honestly Id rather the show had been wrapped up and ended with 12 than what has been done to it since. Its that bad I'd rather have had no new Who than what weve been forced upon us }}

Re: All New Who
I am guessing that the thrill of having a female Doctor is enough to ignore all the quality issues. I can't wrap my head around it.
Chibbers Who is not really doctor Who. It's a weird fanfic tale, more like... I dunno... line Twilight is related to Dracula. That is my coping mechanism for now.
Is this the denial stage of the five stages of grief?

Re: All New Who
The day I heard we were getting a woman Dr was the day Dr Who died for me. Like a nurse is a very special person doing a job I couldn't do so the person playing the Dr must be a special person also. Jodie is not that person & Chibbers certainly is NOT that person either. He could bore the dead to death. Worse still is, who the fecking hell decided his work is good enough to be aired on TV ? Whoever is head of broadcasting must be a lobotomy victim, maybe they were dropped on their head as a child ?

Re: All New Who
{{ Strangely the sex of the Doctor has never been a deal breaker for me, when the idea was first floated in the 80's by Baker (though he was probably joking) and more seriously by Who's original creator, Sydney Newman, I thought then it could work, and in principle still could.
The problem here for me is more a terrible combination, a badly miscast actor in the role speaking poorly written lines in poorly written episodes.
Its interesting to compare the thought sof Newman in the 80's on it, and Moffat in his final two years of the last male Doctor and who laid the groundwork for a female Doctor to be a canon possibility- }}
"At a later stage, Dr Who would be metamorphosed into a woman.
This requires some considerable thought – mainly because I want to avoid a flashy Hollywood ‘Wonder Woman’ because this kind of hero(ine) has no flaws – and a character with no flaws is a bore.”- Newman
“We’ve been laying the possibility for an awfully long time, but you don’t cast that way. I know I’m going to get in trouble for saying that – you cast a person, you don’t cast the gender.
We did just make the female Master, she turns up and the Doctor doesn’t say anything about it, he doesn’t react at all, he thinks that’s perfectly normal.
It’s not impossible, no, it is entirely down to who the best person is.” - Moffat

I'm no Whovian but I didn't see gender as an issue.
James Bond is something else because the character is built around a sexually typecast persona, but Who is asexual.

Re: All New Who
{{ Difference for me is purely in believability. The narative has to support the idea.
The fact the Doctor is an alien, that Time Lord capabilities, powers and technology has always been delibretly vague and much like magic, and we know nothing about either how Time Lords or Gallifreyeans reproduce, what the norms are, or exactly how regeneration works, means the narrative can easily support the change without damaging or fundementally altering anything about either the character or the world building. In theory. Chibnal managed to destroy both in only two series however.
Bond on the otherhand is a human male. Making it impossible to swap him out for a female unless they go down the route of either having the title and name 007 and James Bond be something which is passed on, and a female agent gets it next- but then its not the same character its someone new entirely so not Bond in the true sense, just the name.
Or the only other way that would preserve the believibility and world building would be for Bond for some reason to want to become a woman and go through all the gender therapy and surgery required to do so over a period of years. This however whilst it would not technically break world building, would fundementally alter the character, as Bonds nature and releationships with woman and feminity to that point shows no indication of such a choice, and it would make for a very different sort of Bond film than folk would be expecting! }}

Re: All New Who
{{{ Well this is embarrassing for current Who.
The rewatch of Day of the Doctor was hugely successful, and got Who trending again in a positive light.
So the current Who team decided they'd try to hijack the idea for their abysmal version of the show and have a series 12 rewatch noone wants (was bad enough seeing it on broadcast)-
However no one wanted to watch that crap, especially not when to celebrate NuWho we were geting a rewatch of Rose with RTD on hand to add some comments as well as others involved in reviving the show.
So then they had to make a public climbdown-
Only you may have noticed that yesterday it didnt start, instead we got the rewatch of 11th Doctor story Vincent and the Doctor and the series 12 rwatch noone wanted seems to have quietly been shelved!
But the deperate attempts by Chibber era Who to try to jump up and down attract some attention, steal back the thunder from previous eras and be relevant still is embarrassing. }}

Re: All New Who
The first 15 mins of this I LOVED writing. Had it my head from BEFORE I'd accepted the job. The crashing Tardis, the Tigger scene, the little girl packing her case and waiting. Then I was totally stuck. 15 mins into the best job of my career and I sank under the mud! #fishcustard (Steven Moffat)
Karen Gillan
@karengillan
I will say, I figured out my eyebrows since this ep
(1) The mysterious door. That's a dream I had over and over again as a kid. Sometimes when I went to my Gran's house there would be an extra door on the landing leading to a strange green room full of tables packed with shiny exciting toys and a stage at the far end. #fishcustard
2) First thing I'd do when I got to my Gran's was run upstairs to check if I was dreaming or not. Real life was always a disappointment. Years later, I told my Mum about the dream - which I was still having on a regular basis - and she said "I know that room." #fishcustard (Moffat)

Re: All New Who
So how does that snakey thing get about when there's no ceiling to hang from, eh, EH? Moffat must go! Oh, he's gone, phew!- Moffat
Matt Smith is so instantly the Doctor it still feels like a miracle. Silly, clever, kind to children, outwitted by a tree.
The figure darting past the window would have been revealed to be the Doctor himself in The Big Bang - but it didn't cut in very well, so we abandoned the idea. It's Matt Smith though.
And there's Amy remaining in the scary room and not listening to the Doctor's dire warnings. Yep, she can stay. - Moffat

Re: All New Who
Struggling to tweet as I keep getting distracted by Dr Who - Arthur Darvill
FIVE MINUTES!!!! Back to Scottish - Karen Gillan
The design of the Atraxi spaceship (an eyeball in a star) was an intentional creation of Steven Moffat's, so that it would be an easy monster for children to draw.- Doctor Who Online
The slagging off Leadworth scene was one of Matt’s audition scenes. - Moffat
This whole sequence on the village green - it got rained off. Rescheduled for another day. And it rained AGAIN. We had more plans than we managed.
I had a real napping problem whilst filming this...I think the nerves and excitement got the better of me and I actually fell asleep in between shots, in the middle of the day, next to the "duck pond"- Arthur Darvill
You fell asleep on your FIRST DAY of filming!! How can anyone be that relaxed?!- Karen Gillan
(1) The Jeff scene. Love this. One of my favourites. The capper - when the Doctor reappears and says "Delete your internet" history before slamming out the room again is the most joyous use ever the action theme. But I was FURIOUS that I had to write this scene ..
(2) Now it can be told! It was a budget cut. The only budget cut in history that ever came with added Patrick Moore. Originally, the Doctor asked Amy where he could find some "clevers" (instead of remembering Jeff's laptop) and she tells him about a maths class..
(3) But the schedule was full to bursting, and all we could afford was an actor and a bedroom (many stories start this way!) I was incensed. I LOVED the lecture hall scene. With great ill grace I wrote replacement. Which was, on reflection ... vastly better...
(4) Because I'm special kind of idiot, it took me a long while to admit that the new scene was an improvement. If you want know to how big an idiot I was, I'm going to tweet the original scene (it's not very good.)
And here we go. My seventh Doctor Who script - and FINALLY I kill someone. (The nice doctor.)
Bloody Jeff- Arthur Darvill
Loving fast paced editing of this episode. It suits Matt’s doctor so well. Constant crazy momentum!- Karen Gillan (ever got the directors eye on things)
And he STEALS A FIRE ENGINE. So Doctor Who!!!- Moffat
Look, Olivia Coleman’s getting some lines. She’s good, she’s bound to make it eventually. - Moffat
Olivia and the creepy kids #FishCustard new band name- Darvil
Karen and Arthur shot their last day on Who in that hospital a couple of years later- Moffat

Re: All New Who
@flatnosegeorge
is directing the hell out of this episode!!!!- Karen Gillan
To be honest, style-wise, I sort of preferred the original opening. ( edit add the ep originally opened just on Amelias garden at night, the now post credits shot). But Piers Wenger and I went out to dinner and reflected on the sheer scale of David's final story. We figured we needed to come of the gate a big stronger. No regrets - it's a hoot!- Moffat (that explains the RTD style opening sequence precredits then!)
Arthur on cracking comedy form for the next few minutes. - Moffat
Blimey, it doesn’t let up, does it? ALL TELLY SHOUD BE LIKE THIS! - Moffat
This is, I think, the third time the Doctor has found his new clothes in a hospital. No wonder he thinks he’s a Doctor. -Moffat
(1) So the Doctor calls the aliens back to show off a bit. Not something he'd normally do. Usually when he's won he loses interest and wanders off to look at steam engines or something. But Jane Tranter had the note that Matt needed a big swaggering hero moment...
(2) So I added this sequence. The Doctor takes a curtain call and makes the baddies watch. It's a bit out of character in some ways, but it totally works. Oh, the cheers we got at the screenings! So WHY does it work?
(3) Because it's a new Doctor, it's a new era. Grandstanding is partly what it's about. Strange beast, Doctor Who. Half drama, half showbiz. Also half comedy, half romance, half adventure, half farce and half horror. Doctor Who is a show of many halves.
(on the end shot of Amelia in the garden and looking up as if she had heard something before it cuts) And that was the Doctor arriving from The Angels Take Manhattan. But we didn’t know that then.- Moffat
Such beautiful storytelling.. - Arthur Darvill
My nan couldn't watch Dr who.. she told me she found the Cider men too scary- Arthur Darvill
Close ups of the Doctor’s hands on the console - not Matt, and the wrong jacket- Moffat
lovely sonic pop up- Arthur
And the wedding dress - the finale has started!! - Moffat
every line a zinger - Arthur
