See what behavior we have to put up with, Amarie? No wonder I'm perpetually tense and uptight.

Not sure about the dwarves, but not bad, not bad at all. Gandalf is good. With the right coloured beards, I think the dwarves would work.

Re: More Hobbit pictures | SPOILER THREAD
In vino veritas, or how that saying goes, and that's what I've been drinking tonight. See, the reason why this dark planet thing is so funny to me, is that it is wrong! We're just such a quiet site at the moment, it just does not do us justice at all.
Politics as such... it just did not work for us. We were too big perhaps, or just had the wrong people around at the time. We won't go there again.
Family friendly usually means no swearing, porn or racism. Hardly what you'd want here either, from what I have seen. (And just about every new member slips into the youtube trap, we just edit, explain and usually move on.)
Wanna be drunk and silly? The Khazad-dumish inn is your place. Even TP's Death was a guest there. Just sing a song when you enter. (Currently suffering greatly from the loss of Grondy, do pay a visit and share a song and a drink.)
Sacrasm and irony not wanted? Go find some of Virumor's posts, he is a delight to read. And he is an esteemed member of the Council.
Sillyness not wanted? Cloveress springs to mind, so silly and delightful.
No humor? May I point to Virumor again. And to dear Grondmaster, who is no longer among us living. What a blow it was to us to loose him, both personally and to PT. ;_;
And I am not trying to steal members, just hoping to gain a visitor. You guys my only other Tolkien site.
Wait, what did I see? A link that was topic related? We do like to be topic-related at PT. *checks it out*
Aww, Gandalf was just right. The dwarves weren't quite what I had imagined myself, but I like how they make me feel. They are really full of personality!
Oh no, it's it really 2 am? The kids will be up in like 4-5 hours, what have I done thinking I could have some time in peace and quiet!?! There's a price to pay I tell you! (Luckily though I have the cutest children in the world, and that makes it better.)

There are no 'real' hardfeelings for PT here, there were a few genuine concerns about lost threads, siince resolved. And some of us were in one fashion or another regularly dropping by and posting in varies threads- but we've been kicked, we could rejoin with a new name of course but the visitor who has been kicked off the roof thinks twice before entering in through the door again!

Re: More Hobbit pictures | SPOILER THREAD
Dear sweet Amarie,
Like Petty (I presume) when I log into Dark Planet I get sent straight to this Forum: "The Dark Planet Thread." I was, in fact, beginning to post Over There, and not just needling comments, I was showing my Planet Friendly side too, but then I got ditched, and without so much as a "thank you very much for coming."
Amarie, I see my banishment (to our Dark Planet Thread) as being: (1) damn rude, (2) not very friendly, (3) a hideous abuse of technological powers, and (4) darn hilarious --- but it's the principle!
Anyhow, the bottom line is, I'm "banished" from Planet Tolkien, for being family unfriendly, I assume, or breaking some other rule, I guess - or maybe for just being a living personifaction of pure evil . (Been wanting to use that "devil" smilee for yonks! )
The fact is, I can't visit Planet Tolkien whether I'd like to or not.
As to stealing our people, go ahead - Odo would prefer a more respectable Forumshire, I'm sure. Folk are free to come and free to go.
Cheers

I hesitate slightly to mention that Tolkien himself changed this detail for the 1960 Hobbit -- overall a revision meant to fit better with The Lord of the Rings, and 'fix' certain problems too, like why Gandalf couldn't read the runes, certain problems with the moon, or where the trolls were in relation to Aragorn and Company later on.
But if you like this detail there's good news still, as when it came time to revise The Hobbit yet again (due to Ace Books) Tolkien seemingly misplaced this revision (or what there was of it -- not much really, relative to the whole story anyway), and even despite some revision to the book, Gandalf's eyebrows remained sticking beyond the brim in any case!
Another bit of Dwarven detail that might have been: no bald Dwarves -- then again, this exists in a draft for the Appendices, thus something that has author-published text for comparison.
Hmm.

Heh, I didn't know that. I'd say that message should be quite clear.
If you guys at one point are willing to put this behind you, and wish to pay us a visit and perhaps share a tankard of Gimli's Finest™ (or, I am sure the KDI would consider importing some Buckie™), I'd be happy to plead your case. Taz could have easily purged your whole forum and ignored your complaints forever, but he's a good and kind man and he did not.
And that I believe will be my last post on the subject.

I think that would be because you were less 'annoying' than Mr Petty and Mr Orwell, who both went around champaining their disgust of various things!

The thing that bugs me with a bunch of the dwarves are their lack of dwarvish faces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like Fili and Kili DO NOT have dwarvish faces, more elvish, neither does balin, or nori ori and dori. Bombur does at least, so does dwalin, but they look TOO HUMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well said your Maj Tin. Could not agree more. Just something not dwarvish looking about them- also none of the dwarves who accompany Gimli to the Council look like this lot- they all looked more like Gimli- and I had always assumed one of those other dwarves was meant to be Gloin, obvously not!!
