Re: Howdy from Needlehole
I think I shifted it in the order it is on PT- so I am laying the blame for inconsistency at their door Odo, its all their fault. Certainly nothing to do with tiredness, staring at a screen for way too long or buckie, especially the last one, nothing to do with it at all.
There are some bits that have been sort of edited in the process because images/gifs and the like haven't survived- when that happened I tended to try to delete the remaining strings of brackets and numbers to preserve the flow and so it didn't look ugly.
And all the poetry and channeling of Wisey needed relaid out- no respect for a poem over there it seems!
It is a bit Crickhollow though- all the right furniture, more or less in the right place but in different surroundings.
I think I passed by the Sourbucks hole on the way here- is it the one with the pasta coming out the chimney?

The copying and pasting plan has worked better than I expected. Petty, you simply amaze me with how fast you put these threads up!
Re: Howdy from Needlehole
Odo yelled from Needlehole,
In a voice that chilled the soul,
Regards a certain Planet, he's not so pliant,
But as to you,
he adores you, Mr Tyrant!
Reported by Lesbo Proudfoot in the Archet Bugle: Page 7.

Give me a shout if you need some help with the copying, Petty, it's quite unfair that you should have to do it all. How about we bring back the your own thread, A Petty Tyrant's Prologue (think that was the name of it)? We'll need somewhere to discuss RotK edit when you get it ready

Re: Howdy from Needlehole
Sometimes I wish I wasn't a humble hobbit from Rushock Bog (below Needlehole), for then I might help in the Great Recovery. Alas, all I can do is cast a Moral Eye over what you do recover. As to your help in getting my photograph back (for my avatar), I can only thank you sincerely, Mr Tyrant. I'll send you a cask of Duckie as a thank you; it took three of my best fowls to make it, and it should still be fresh - still squawking - when it gets to you. I'm sending it by eagle.
This is all a bit like the Recovery Effort after the Blitz (you're quite right,, Mr Tyrant, per your personal email to me). Well done all! I've always thought the folk here were good people at heart, even if some of their behavior is coarse and sometimes quite disgusting.

I've only been able to do one thread (the Origin of Hobbits in the LOTR forum) so far as I don't think I have quite the resilience that Petty does, but I've also been fairly busy with schoolwork that I procrastinated doing over the weekend. Hopefully I can move more stuff over tomorrow or Wednesday though.

I believe Petty's excellent story was posted in Other Fantasy. Last I checked those posts hadn't come through to PT yet.
Re: Howdy from Needlehole
yeah there's a few things havent appeared there yet.
I was thinking rather than reup my old thread if it does appear on PT I will just start a new one dedicated to comments about my edits (still available!!).
If there was any interest among new members for the story bit then I can always put it back at a later time with the advantage its been edited since then!

Kafria, you're another one who might want to have a look at Petty's edits of the LotR trilogy They should be right up your street, "pure" as you are Shame about your thread, though, Petty!

Missing several. It seems that roughly the last week of our posts didn't survive the process. I'm guessing whatever database it was all on only saves all the new stuff every so many days and we got kidnapped before it saved the latter posts. All our threads are missing their 'ends' as far as I can see.

Re: Howdy from Needlehole
As best I can tell the forum copying excluded any posts and changes made after February 8, based on what has shown up on PT so far.
Re: Howdy from Needlehole
Oooh can anyone help me? I've come over from Bree Hill to get Odo Bank's autograph. He is a great hero, isn't he so! Oh how brave he was to save an Entire Forum from certain destruction, single-handedly, including making a new forum-world, saving avatars, and keeping up everyone's spirits in dread times. I read all about it. There was an interview with him in the Archet Bugle which was out this morning! Does anyone know his address? (I'm sure he's handsome too! )

Re: Howdy from Needlehole
Now now there's no need to go rushing about like that Porgy. Take a breath and we can all say hello.
So Odo gave an interview did he, saying how saved the forum single-handed. Yes, well he is very brave and so very respectable, or at least he used to be respectable.
As to directions perhaps you should have a duckie or two first, over here, by the Duck Pond, preferably near the deep end.

Re: Howdy from Needlehole
Sing ye the song of Brave One, Odo,
(Some say braver than 9 fingered Frodo!)
When darkness descended on the forum,
Across the Shire was heard his roaram,
"Get back ye Fiends from farting Planet,
Gawd I'm as angry as 10 gannets!
I'm here to rescue this ol' forum
(No matter how ill-mannered and borin')" -
And he set to - with broadened shoulders -
To save the entire forum - including boulders -
He saved it from a fate worse than death,
That's why he's lauded above all the rest!
Now sadly some are sad wee folk,
(Small even for hobbits, I do not joke)
Already they're sayin' things which doth smellus,
Like the smell of those who are jealous!
Hippo, King's Laurelette.... Lauralet... Luralett.... King's Poet.

Re: Howdy from Needlehole
I can interpret you, Eldo, don't think I can't. Look, I admit that I might have inadvertently gilded a lily or two in my interview with Lesbo Proudfoot, but she does egg one on so - and there is some truth in the article - I did encourage you and the others to fight on during the Great Resistance ... As to Hippo, well clearly by the time he got the story from Lesbo and wrote his piece (assisted ably by me - grammar only!) - well, the thing --- well, the thing got even more out of hand. Mind you, the more I read that fine poem (nicely channelled I must say Wisey ) ------- well, poetry is always true, isn't it... after a fashion... like the Bible is true... .... ... isn't it?.... .... .... ....
Excuse me?
Who's there?
Porgy?
Porgy, who?
Err... back soon Eldo, someone's at the door...

I knew that the others were working frantically --- I say frantically --- well behind the lines, in a safe place, putting those important logistical things together that always a part of any war effort, however unexciting they may seem, while I was defending the last unconquered pond in Rushock Bog, still defying nigh the perpetual darkness that terifying horde of ravenous fiends... ...
