poor Lippmanette has had to deactivate the comments section for her review of the 13th Doctor,- Figg

{{Poor my arse- her choice, no one else has felt the need to Ive been watching. Mind you, with her its probably for the best- the one time I did comment on her vids she did not respond well to any sort of criticism and was overly and unnecessarily aggressive and petulant sounding in her response.

Malick- I agree its hard to see the market for the Jenny character. Not sure how many folk would even remember her. Pretty forgettable character in a pretty forgettable episode sadly.
Oddly enough she was supposed to die in that episode but it was at Moffats request RTD kept her alive- so I guess Moffat had some thought of using her again in the future then changed his mind later.

Sorry to hear about Trevor Baxter passing- he made such an impression in Talons alongside Jago its why they of few classic side characters got spin offs. I have a couple of the Jago and Lightfoot BF audios and always enjoy them. }}}

Maybe you have never been on the receiving end of sexist and violent abuse, she has every right to protect herself from trolls who wish her harm. the vitriol shown to women over the female Doctor has been very bad, if you think she is 'aggressive and petulant' maybe that's because you just didn't like her criticising your 'hero'. she is very fair minded and mature in her responses, and she is never aggressive. {{Figg she was rude to me beginning and end of- I made a comment, it was in no way offensive or hurtful, it was constructive criticism and she jumped down my throat very snarkily by way of response. For which reason I have never bothered commenting on her videos since and my opinion of her went down considerably- dont see whats to be disappointed in other than her rudeness to me for no discernible reason.

I've learned that unsolicited "constructive criticism" is never well received. I doubt if more than a small fraction of people do well with unsolicited "constructive criticism". It usually hurts enough when it's solicited.

{{it was a while ago now Halfy but if memory serves she had made a factual error then proceeded to draw an erroneous conclusion based upon it- I politely pointed out the error. She responded with a very strong and unwarranted reply banging on about how it was just her opinion. And I responded, again politely, saying I could not see what reasons there was for her to be so rude and personal in her response. That it wasn't like I had being making a complaint or having a go at her but merely made a constructive comment politely. And that was that.
The only thing disappointing about it was her- I was very disappointed as whilst I had often disagreed with her I had respected her- until then. Her tone and attitude to an innocuous youtube comment from someone who had been subscribed to her channel for at least a year was unwarranted.}}}

I have made a lot of YouTube posts and its not my style to be rude or aggressive to people and I was not in this case either, but Lipmannettes reply was out of step with the point raised in its rudeness and being overly aggressive and defensive, for which there was no reason or provocation- it certainly surprised me as much as it annoyed me at the time and disappointed me- as I said I had followed and been subscribed to her channel for some considerable time by then. But there you go, she dos not seem to respond well to any contrary viewpoint. Don't see how any of that is my fault! }}}

Speaking just for myself, I know that in the past I've taken positions that seemed brilliant and playful at the time, only to find the next morning that they looked belligerent and petty through the lens of sobriety. I still don't understand how that happens! Where did the brilliance evaporate to???

Seems fairly obvious to me, but the many and long years of the Moffat Wars (should have) taught us that obvious is not at all obvious and that this will only end in tears. Not necessarily ours.

Well you did just a few posts ago say good riddance and in context of what Figgy said also strongly suggested that Lippmanette deserved to receive hate and abuse for being a vocal feminist... It's all in the eyes that reads....

I mentioned Lippmanette being afraid of abuse, you replied by making it about you instead of the issue. the issue is the enormous and vitriolic abuse women get on the internet, which you seemed to shrug off as unimportant because one time she responded in a way you didn't like.

But lets be honest, you probably goaded her into anger, you have a endency do that when it comes to Moffat.
The poor girl probably made some innocent comment about Moffat, and you probably didn't let it go until she gave you a set down. maybe you tried to deny her opinion was worthwhile? and she got the hump, who knows, but the point is you were holding a grudge. instead of acknowledging the abuse and horrible comments she may have encountered, considering the backlash against a female Doctor.

I don't believe she was aggressive because she isn't like that, she is easy going and friendly and the only way she would be rude is if she felt threatened or goaded into anger.
You also implied it would be better if she didn't allow comments as her comments are not worthwhile because of one incident with you. You said "Mind you, with her its probably for the best" which strongly implies that you think her opinions not worthwhile and that maybe she shouldn't bother to comment. ie good riddance. You also twisted Amaries words, she didn't say that you advocated abuse, at all.
So I agree with Amarie on this one. Lippmannete does NOT react badly to comments, unless they are unpleasant and she feels someone is trying to deny her right to an opinion.

I made no comment at all on the abuse anyone has taken over the 13th Doctor- the video I commented on was long ago as I made clear. All I said was my only time commenting she was rude in response. Which she was.

No I did not goad her in any way, I made 1 short comment, and a response to her rude reply politely questioning why she was being so rude to me as I was surprised, shocked and disappointed.

I am perfectly happy to talk about a female Doctor- Ive been in favour for some time as you should well know, but that was not what I was taking about.

And I said it was probably for the best given my one interaction with her she seemed to respond in an out of proportion manner to criticism. Nor did I ever question her right to an opinion.

But srsly, Lippmanette (or Jenny), is one of the nicest gentlest people on Youtube, if she responded badly to you its because she doesn't know you, and you have a 'thing' about Moffat being criticized. It was bound to end badly, like any discussion about Moffat basically. It always ends in tears and arguments.

I almost think this conversation ended almost well, almost. And on a Who Thread in Forumshire, that must surely be seen as a plus!
