the bad is being over-reported compared to the good. He does seem to be honestly concerned about helping in the inner cities - doesn't mean he won't be tone deaf about how he does it - but at least he does seem honestly concerned.- Halfy

{{I am coming to the conclusion that his biggest problem is that he has a world view that is almost comically naive.
Its like when you are a teenager- you think you have got it worked out, you think you can see how the world should be and why its so stupid, and all the answers seem simple and its amazing no one has just sorted stuff out yet.
Trumps strikes me as having that mind set- Israel/Palestine- just make up and be friends, the actual plan to how doesn't matter, details dont matter, just do it and everything will be great.
Putin the same, just pretend everything that has actually happening and is happening isn't and everyone can get along fine. America and Russia side by side fighting ISIS in a rosy future- ISIS, another problem Trump seems to think you just solve by saying how bad they are and that they need to be stopped. Again though no actual plan, no details, just naive assertions.

I dont think he is evil, or bad- he doesn't have any political ideology, I dont think he knows what one is, so this isn't about driving a vision through, or some glorious political end game for the Republican party- thats why his idea and promises for health care are pretty much the exact opposite of a conservative health care plan and why it will be up against Rand Pauls actual conservative version. Trump isn't a conservative, or a democrat, or anything in fact- he is a Trump, singular.
So I do believe he wants to help the poor in inner cities, reduce crime, get rid of terrorism ect I just think he is completely lacking any practical ideas of how to do any of it. He made a raft of general assertions to get elected of stuff he never actually really cared personally about, but knew played well with his crowds, or that he had thought through how they could ever be enacted if he did win.

If America had elected a teenager who was convinced in their naivety they could see what was wrong with world- this is exactly the sort of Presidency you would get- someone making general claims about how everything will just be great if only people would stop criticising him and just listen to how great it all was and tell everyone else its all great. }}}

Yeah, most of Fox think Trump is just great.

But one good thing we've been getting out of all of this is a stronger urge to examine the media, and I get a sense that the main media outlets are in fact more biased on what they choose to report then we have admitted to ourselves, but never outright liars like Trump is saying (and doing).

Petty I agree with your assessment of Trump being A Trump singular, and a small part of me actually, dare I say it, likes him in all his glorious nonsense. I  sometimes find him endearingly silly. But he has evil friends, Steve Bannon being the worst of the very worst.

I don't mind Trump wanting to throw out gang members and criminals either. If I was president I would do the same thing.

He feels better on campaign because only those who like him will show up. Not like the media or congress who actually dare to ask him questions like "WTF are you doing??"

If nothing else, all eyes are fixed very firmly on this guy, Donald Trump. For sure I'm glad he's over the water from me but, there's a smoke screen going up & I feel icky.

Ok so lets get this straight- the President of the US is building his foreign policy based on Fox News coverage. And when he gives a speech we cannot assume he means what he actually says.

I hadn't seen that (still haven't but I found a partial transcript). Good for him! I'm sure there's some hard internal discussions at FOX right now. As there should be. They've made their name as an opposition media outlet and an advocate of the right. Now they're increasingly going to have to choose between the two. More popcorn please!

Just watched a 10 minute piece on it that was pure fear stoking.
And also, ironically 'fake news' in that whilst its true Sweden does have the highest recorded amount of rapes per capital they completely failed to mention this was true before a single Syrian refugee arrived. And that the reason the numbers are so high is because Sweden has one of the broadest legal definitions of rape in Europe, and because Sweden changed the manner in which they record such crimes- which led to a seeming instant spike in numbers when it fact it was just a much better, more accurate means to record it than before.
There have bee instances, no denying that, of street violence and the like, but the stark figure on refugees and terrorism in Sweden is that they have accepted 200,000 Syrian refugees and so far there have been zero terrorist attacks. }}}

{{One of the weirder aspects of this Presidency I have noted is a tendency for the people Trump has appointed to have to go around the world reassuring everyone else that in fact whatever mad thing Trump has said is not in fact true or the case.

Point in case with regard to Iraq-

January, Trump - "We should have kept the oil. Maybe we'll have another chance."

Today, General Matiss en route to Baghdad- "We're not in Iraq to seize anyone's oil."

Its rather odd to have a President who says one thing then the people he has appointed to carry out his agenda then say "no, he didn't really mean that, he really meant the exact opposite!"}}}

FOX is on pretty shaky ground there. By Swedish definitions, almost everything Roger Ailes ever did at FOX would qualify as rape!
