Re: US General Election 2016
Gary Johnson turned out to be a complete joke.
And his running mate is all but directly campaigning for Clinton.

And Chris Matthews gives a veiled endorsement of Trump.

My Voter's Pamphlet gives me a total of 7 presidential candidates to choose from, and 5 of them have the huge advantage that they have absolutely zero chance of actually become President of the United States. That's where my vote is going - where it's safe!
{It's the two that actually do have a chance that scare me }

I hate to say it, but you sound just a closed-minded on the subject as many of the Trump supporters are about Hillary. (And I'm not saying both of you don't have your reasons... ) Personally I'm voting 3rd party, but I think it's important to listen to both sides. After all, each represents the opinions of over 50 million people, and we are supposed to be a democracy in which all voices are represented, right?
I think you might have misread the tone of my post, which was not serious.
This sums up my view of the election quite well
https://www.facebook.com/humansofnewyork/posts/1424675180939911Social media is not the place to change people’s minds. It’s probably too late for that anyway. But I think there are enough of us. There are enough of us who understand that this is not a normal election. This is not a normal man. We cannot validate his lies with the authority of the presidency. We cannot put the NSA or FBI in service of his paranoia. We cannot allow his vengefulness to be amplified by the full power of the US military. This election is not about emails. This election is about preventing a dangerous demagogue from becoming the most powerful man in the world. And there are enough of us who realize this. But we must vote. We must nudge each other. We must drive each other to the polls. We must make calls, and send texts, and knock on doors, and we must not allow anyone to accuse us of ‘being political.’ Because this isn’t 'politics as usual.' This isn’t Democrat vs. Republican. This is Democracy vs. demagogue. Enough of us understand this. But we must show up.

Blue - what you just posted is the only reason I'm not voting third party this election. I can't just cast a protest vote, it has to actively count this time around.

I respect that Halfy, but I'd argue that a protest vote actually counts more, unless of course you live in a swing-state like Florida or North Carolina where a handful of votes could change everything.

I'm shocked that you're shocked by this. The Clintons and Bush's are friends and part of the same Washington elite club. Trump destroyed Jeb Bush in the primary.
This is basic arithmetic.

People voting for Trump? Sure. I can see many understandable reasons people would vote for Trump.
Do I find Trump acceptable as a human being, never mind a presidential candidate?
No way.
I'd say Trump candidacy is the best thing Hillary has going for her, after her almost limitless political experience.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/nov/03/donald-trump-america-fears-jessica-valenti-election-2016?CMP=soc_3156This isn’t a political divide between left and right, Democrats and Republicans; it’s an immeasurable moral chasm. And so I understand why it’s been easier for many horrified by Trump to simply pretend there’s no way that he could actually win the presidency. Imagining the hatred underlying his campaign and politics being emboldened in this way is just too much to bear.

People voted for Brexit with no solid plans in place and even after the clusterfuck that it has caused polls indicate most of them would do so again, Trump's lead is narrowing so I wouldn't be that surprised if he was elected never underestimate peoples stupidity and anger...

I really think young Trump would have wiped the floor with Hillary. At some point the reality tv personality took over. It's too bad.

Re: US General Election 2016
Closing times for polls in each state:
We won't know the result for sure until at least the closing of polls on the West Coast (11 PM EST/4 AM GMT), but if you're hoping to make an early night of it you can keep your eyes peeled for the following insta-lose scenarios for Trump:
- He loses Florida; or
- He loses at least two of the following: Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina
Avoiding these does not necessarily mean Trump will win but they mean that we'll have to wait to see how states further west end up.
{{{This assumes that there will not be a complete breakdown in polling and that reliably Democratic states don't start flipping. However, the swing states are usually the first ones to flip as a candidate's share of the popular vote grows. While mathematically speaking Trump could win without Florida if he carried Pennsylvania or New York, politically speaking any Republican victory in those states would almost certainly come as part of a dominant national trend in which he also carried more marginal states like Florida.}}}

Re: US General Election 2016
The words of young Trump sound much the same to me (if you cut out the racism, etc), but he comes across as less offensive when young - I think we expect brash naivete from the young and forgive it in a way we don't in someone over the age of 50.
