I love how these messages keep updating.
thick walls (stone?) perform an averaging effect over several days. Great in a desert where the cool nights can average with hot days. If not in the desert, you will be fine in short heat waves but a long heat wave will be a problem and will last several days longer inside than outside.

I know, once its hot its hot for weeks, it doesn't cool down, the stone heats up and then emits the heat at night. you can actually feel the heat coming out of the stones. I have to wait for a thunderstorm, open all the windows and just let it blow through.

3 days of rain here... had to get to the station and it was raining?
Why can't it rain during more convenient times of the day?

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [5]
So I run a weather camp for high school, and we spend a couple days camping near the weather service office on Long Island. Got rained on, but the kids were troopers and not a single complaint.
Of course the tents were wet, and being on Manhattan I have no place to put tents to dry out except on the roof of the building I work in. I had the kids set up the tents and through a camp chair in them to keep them from blowing away. They were somewhat sheltered from the wind so I wasn't worried about them.
Turns out tents need to be staked on all 4 corners to withstand wind, and tossing a camp chair in there won't do it. The tents deformed and the poles snapped at the sleeves. 5 tents wasted! I don't trust them to be in the right bags, so I hope the part numbers are on the tents themselves, otherwise I'll never get things straight and will have to buy new ones.

My project team.... why can't they make even the most basic of bloody decisions?
Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [5]
They clearly have access to too much information. Round these parts we selected a leader who shuts out all real information and therefore makes decisions quite easily.

All interesting ideas... 2 of them are not in the same country though so hard to take phones away or get them Ribena.
On the info side.... I shouldn't have to get involved in some of these basics and so need to make sure they have the info!

I can't decide whether online dating is worse or better than job-hunting. On the one hand, you get to read about interesting-sounding people in your area that share your interests, but on the other hand at least when applying for a job you can get a response if you just keep calling them back.
I have a nagging suspicion that it's all a big sham.

Everything is a sham if money is involved & I think online dating is the biggest.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [5]
GRRR..
I've been agonizing all day over whether I should go on this trip to the mountains with my boss tomorrow. It's just him, a co-worker, and myself going, and the plan is to go snowboarding all day Monday and Tuesday. There's a ton of fresh snow right now, pretty much perfect apparently, and the crowds will be much less on those days. The only problem is that I haven't been snow-boarding for at least 7 years, and when I last went I spent the entire time bashing the hell out of my knees, butt, and wrists as I cycled through a never-ending pattern of stand-up, aim down-hill, pick up speed, panic, and crash. I fucking hated it as I ended up by myself most of the day while everyone else who didn't suck sped by.
But, of course, I'd like to be able to snowboard, and I REALLY want to get away from stressful shit at home, and see some snow. But FUCK I hate snowboarding and the prospect of spending these two days only to, if I'm lucky, break through at the end of them to not blowing quite so hard is filling me with dread. The two of them are solid boarders themselves, and so it will be, once again, me on my lonesome all day. Everyone and their mother has said, "just get a lesson" and I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly, but it would only solve part of the problem. And, when everything's over with, I'll still be down a few hundred dollars by the end of it that I'll never get back, and very VERY little in the way of good memories, if any.
If it was anything else: hiking, biking, swimming, sailing, fucking travel by hot-air balloon, that would be alright. But the torment of breaking your body into being able to snowboard really fucking pisses me off. It's like golf, but you have to deal with drunk twenty-somethings and 6-year-olds who are better than you'll ever be instead of pretentious gray-hairs and bitchy course-managers.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [5]
Responding to prior post: dating and job search have the same rule: don't call more than once or you look desperate and it's all over. But the online dating is more of a sham because the companies deliberately keep profiles up even after people stop paying, just so it looks like more options. The numbers are you have to send messages to about 20 people before you get a response, then spend time talking to 5 or more of those that do respond before you actually get a meeting. It's just a numbers game, and I've heard roughly the same the numbers from more than one person.
Current post: I know it's not as cool, but skiing's a lot easier on the body because you fall different. The problem is the extra complexity of getting skis crossed. Take a lesson! But no matter which you do, if they aren't with you, there's no pressure. You can take a run then sit and drink hot chocolate and recover before the next run. Nobody has to know.

Re: Things that are making you crabbit! [5]
There's more to the day than snow. Its not the only thing to consume your time. Look around you ? what else can you be doing ? focus your view on something else that's there ? Talk to people, share a conversation, have a laugh maybe ? Or, if its only just you & these other guys take a drawing pad & draw them falling arse over head in the snow take a camera & take pics good enough to go into National Geographic You are master of your own destiny ? change the way the "break" goes to how YOU want it to go ? …….Just an idea I didn't go to the Tolkien Event in Oxford last year, & I regret it. I am so pissed off with regrets.
