Then again, what is the real crime, the swimming or the state of the harbour water? Shrugging

I wouldn't say it's that gross. Like most things I think the state of the harbor water has probably improved over the last decade. The Hudson used to be a dead zone, then people had enough of it and cleaned it up.

There's still a major sewage leakage problem in the harbor. You can smell it just by walking by sometimes (especially around Pier Six).

There are clean-up efforts as well though, so you're probably right that it's better than it was.

It must have smelled clean at the time, or they wouldn't go in.  It looked cleaner than how I remember it from over a decade before. Hopefully the sewage outflow was small at the time!

{{{Miserable cold and wet one day, boiling hot the next, result= storms! Sadly the good one broke overnight and I was passed out by then as I was working at 6.

Took this picture first though of the storm clouds gathering-

Tales of Home [7] - Page 31 IMG_2252_zpstxqhh9aq

Though I wasn't concious to take any of the storm someone else I know did, these are all looking out over the Holy Loch, I grew up around there and have many fond memories of sitting with my older brother watching storms over the loch and hills just like this, you get quite a show and the hills and the water make the thunder echo on and carry the sound back and forth really loudly.}}

Awww...

We're still enjoying Umag, Croatia. Got a few days of bad weather coming, but when rest of Europe was under a cloud, here it was blissfully sunny. So we came earlier and we're staying longer than planned.

Very cool. Very Happy

Juneau, Alaska had a cable car like that leaving from the downtown area and going up the nearby mountain. Although its "downtown" is pretty tiny.

Huh, just googled it...Alaska is apparently approximately 7 times the size entire of the entire UK and has less than 800,000 people living there, no winder Sarah Palin was so crazy...
