Donations (domain name)

Oh dear....I knew it...

So, last year I didn't ask for donations because we had enough from the year before. Which in hindsight was a bit stoopid, since corona is here, but whatever.

It's not that I *need* donations to keep things running. But if you want to, that would be lovely.

@Az it is easy just click on the link that Amarie posted and it takes you to various methods for paying. I used the Skrill one in the middle because it worked, the one on the left didn't work for me.

Amarie, how does the credits thing work? and how many credits do you need in a year? do you have enough for this year already? I am not sure how it works.

Normally we need 5260 credits to be ad free, have SSL, be allowed to have custom domain, etc. This has been paid for.

Keeping the domain is usually free for us. but I assume making a new one will cost us 1200 credits. Then next year it will be free again.

Currently we are just 200 credit short. Credits bought now can be used later.

I have no idea which currency I picked, but think it was the second one down. This is pretty cheap, really!

ok just added more, we should be over the line now.

So what's the timing on the switcheroo again? I just got a brief "this domain is expired" before it gave me the option to click on this and come here. Scared me for a moment, but made me think about when we are getting away from hobbitmovie.

This is Eldy pinch-hitting for Amarië. After poking around, I believe this situation requires manual intervention by Forumotion staff while the old custom domain remains in the recovery period, which it will for the next nine days. I've reached out to Forumotion and will keep you guys updated.

Even in the best of times I'd have to log in every week or so; recently it's been every day or so. No idea why this should vary between people, but I've never had a chance to forget my password.

It is comforting to see that she too is scratching her head about the same things I did.

There is also a little line that says that only the founder is able to buy a domain name. So most likely I would have had to bug her about it anyway.
