I think Amarie is more worried about the impressions to a Tolkien Estate with an itchy trigger finger than the technical reality of whether or not it's possible to make a profit.

I am certainly Eldo Amarie was not trying to cast any aspirations on your character or to accuse you of trying to make profit from the site. No one would think that.

yep I agree with Petty. no one would ever think that. To be honest I dont understand what Amarie means, but maybe she is referring to the Tolkien estate and WB being trigger happy with regards anything with the name of Tolkien attached. remember that pub they tried to close down because it was called The Hobbit.

Yes, what the nice people above said. I was just trying to remind you of the wargs, Eldo. My post was direct at the comment about all the Tolkien sites never having trouble, and I was simply trying to say that things can be seen diffrent than intended (my post being now being an example of that).

There isn't really one, but it might be neat just to say you have it. The idea of using localized e-mail addresses as a donation perk is one I got from another forum I used to post at, and I thought it was really cool at the time. But then again, I was like 15, so maybe I was just easily impressed. Razz

Sheees, clicking around I find that domain is still free since we have high activity and we don't really need that package I kept getting referred to. Rolling Eyes

Being add free is 2000 credits a year, so we have enough for one year (until June 2019) and half the next.

Donations have always been a completely voluntary thing, but due to me refilling the coffers just before stepping down it hasn't been a concern for a couple years, as Amarië noted above. We've had a couple other (relatively) sizable gifts previously but also plenty of people chipping in with $5-10 here or there which also helped a lot, especially when I was 16.

Forumotion credits don't expire so a gift now is worth just as much as a gift a year or two down the road. Smile
