That seems a fire hazard.
What you need now, is your own fire demon.

God, it's weird getting to grips with actually being off for the summer.

David H wrote:Milton Hershey was a fascinating man. He really was the Henry Ford of confectionery, a populist bringing the new science of mass production to invent a new kind of chocolate for the masses. That slight sour milk taste of Hershey's chocolate was his big breakthrough. It allowed consistent mediocrity no matter what kind of milk was being used. Consistent mediocrity is now the hallmark of all "American Food" (Kraft mac and cheese, McDonalds, etc.)
That's a great way of putting it. I've gone on the Chocolate World ride at Hersheypark almost every year of my life which is obviously heavily bowdlerized but it did eventually make me curious about Hershey.

I wasn't aware of this... It sounds disturbingly WillyWonka-esque...

Slightly, I suppose. I think the main appeal for me is nostalgia.
Also they used to hand out free candy bars at the end and they were so fresh; tasted noticeably better than stuff bought in a regular store.

Hershey Park is a real thing. I may have taken students there for Physics Day, but it may have been somewhere else: amusement parks sort of blend together.

Hershey Park is great. Chocolate World is kind of its own thing, the bulk of the park is pretty standard amusement park fare. It has a really fantastic selection of roller coasters.

You never really know what to do with yourself when you suddenly have tons of free time. Any ideas?

Head for the mountains.
Pick a skill you've always wanted and learn it.
Create something.
EDIT: write Eldo story.

What a first sentence!

Re: Just...................whatever [6]
When I saw this I thought, this looks like a writing exercise:
" Use the words 'python', 'jaws', 'penis', and 'squat-toilet' in a sentence. You have one minute. Begin!"

Seconded!
Hahaha.. I kind of started working on my Master thesis. So, I don't have that much free time really. But I'll definitely keep it in mind. (I did mean to get around to continuing it a long time ago.)

Good luck with your thesis! I'd love to read more but I can be patient. {{{seriously tho no pressure even if you don't come back to it}}}

Re: Just...................whatever [6]
I'd be happy to do so.
Funny that you bring this up though; bunch of people in the Tolkien tumblr crowd seem to be working on their Master's theses around this time too. Kinda makes me feel like I'm missing out. Though I guess if I do end up going back, the amount of non-fiction writing I've been doing lately could count as limbering up. I've been trying to write in a more academic style since the hope is publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
