Michael wotsit is to blame for a whole raft of unsuitable boyfriends with his hair.- Figg
Yup. Amazing the effect that hair had on teenage girls at the time. I remember lassies at school with his face on pencil cases, lunchboxes, pictures of him from teen magazines used as covers for jotters. My girlfriend of the time was obsessed
Yet he is the weakest actor in the group.

Re: Television programmes [2]
I've just reached my favourite part of the West Wing, which is from mid season 6 and out covering the campaigns and election following Bartlet's second term. For all of how good the rest of the show is, I think it took a real deep dive into real on the ground american politics there.
Problem is I always end up supporting Vinick, a Lincoln republican, which doesn't work out so well.
Oh, well..

Re: Television programmes [2]
The MST3K kickstarter has reached 3.3 mil so we will get six new episodes. Reaching 5.5 or even 4.4 in the next 11 days seems unrealistic. Glad we'll be getting something, though, and I'm hoping they'll be picked up by Netflix or some similar service.

Re: Television programmes [2]
Finished watching season one of The Man in the High Castle the other day. I'm glad I had done some spoilerish reading on the show by that point, because Amazon did not give any indication in its marketing that this is only a first season. The original book is pretty short, but the show plays fast and loose with the source material (which I don't have an opinion on since I've never read it). In an interview the guy who created it said there might be four or more additional seasons but that he doesn't know where the story is going for the most part, which ... isn't particularly encouraging, but I enjoyed this season way more than I thought I would so I'll come back. The production design is probably the biggest standout, but Rufus Sewell and Joel de la Fuente both gave great performances. Unfortunately the protagonists were pretty bland in comparison, but not enough to sink the show for me. Anyone else seen it?
Re: Television programmes [2]
I watched the first few minutes of the first episode. I stopped when I realized I wouldn't be able to watch the rest of the season without Prime. I had Prime back in the day, no real interest in having it now. The concept is interesting enough, but the book is so slim, they'd definitely have to depart from it at some point.

Re: Television programmes [2]
its certainly an unusual storyline but I am not sure how you can watch it in the UK. I saw it on Sky Italia dubbed, this looks like its just got subtitles, but anyway its worth a look if only for the great 80s soundtrack. it had me on the edge of my seat a couple of times which is always a good sign innit.

He never said 'of our age'- you did- he said 'of our time' which is different- and he is perfectly right- Cumberbatch and Freeman are the Sherlock and Watson of our times- I love Brett's Holmes, but it was 30 years ago now- hardly of our times.

Re: Television programmes [2]
Sorry Petty but, if it came to a vote mine will go to Brett I class him "of our age" ? but, I do like Crumbleswatch as Sherlock ! Im looking forward to seeing him as a Victorian crime solver He has got a graceful elegance about him. Brett is the 1st name I think of when the name Sherlock is mentioned tho.

Re: Television programmes [2]
I don't even really think of Cumberbatch's Sherlock as actually the real Sherlock Holmes, entertaining though it is, Sherlock Holmes is Brett, and he is of our times and of our age, as were all alive when it aired. Its the height of smug self congratulation to claim such a thing.

Re: Television programmes [2]
Well he said, "THE Sherlock and Watson of our current time." (Emphasis is mine).
Current being the operative word here, I think the only other "current" Sherlock Holmes is the film series starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
I suppose Moffat's statement is fair then, considering how far from the original writing the film versions tend to stray.
Can we get over it you squabbling munchkins?
