Do you like lolcats?
Re: Lolcats thread!
I've met the new puss. A skinny red kitten! Gobbling up food like it's nobodies business. She came from a Pound - I think the other kittens might have pushed her around a bit. (Don't worry everyone, I planted a bomb and those fat kittens won't be laughing long! ) She's a ginger cat btw, not marmalaide. The Real man I mentioned's Missus thought of three possible names. (1) Bubbles, (2) Pumpkin and (3) Ginger Rogers. I suggested Ginger Meggs! And I think the Real man's Missus is now leaning to Ginger Meggs! Who would have thought it! I'm not joking neither!!!!!

Re: Lolcats thread!
Congratualtions on getting your own pussy to stroke Orwell!
As a long term cat (I was going to say owner but once youve had a cat awhile you will come to realise thats not really appropriate) but as a cat orientated person lets say I would recommend of those names going with any one with a 's', 'ch', or 'k' sound in it- as all three sounds cats are particularly attuned to, they will associate their name with themselves quicker and be more likely to respond when called (well if they feel like it, but they will definetly hear you!)

Re: Lolcats thread!
Congratulations on the new kitten, Orwell...'s manly friend! I'm a little jealous; I love our cats but the experience of going to the shelter to pick them out was a lot of fun and I haven't gotten to do that in a long time (the rest of the family doesn't really want more pets ).
Re: Lolcats thread!
I'll inform that Real man I know of your thoughts, guys. Cheers. "ch" "s""k", was it? Mmm.... The kitty looks a bit like one of those ocelots or something... I'm going to look up small wild cats and see if something comes to mind for a name.. We think, too, that she looks Äsian somehow - Chinese, maybe, high cheekbones... Eegad! Names are f*6%$%g hard to think up --- for cats.

Re: Lolcats thread!
Tolkien had an intense dislike and mistrust of cats so there isn't a lot of inspiration for names there. However, the predecessor of Sauron in his first appearance (as an antagonist for Beren and Luthien in The Book of Lost Tales) is a supernatural cat named Tevildo. Since my youngest cat is named after a Harry Potter character I;ve thought I might name the any future cat Tevildo.
Re: Lolcats thread!
IMPORTANT UPDATE
It looks like Ginger Meggs might stick! We're already tending t shorten it to "Gingee." Now, I'm thinking, as the cat looks kinda oriental (Siamese-ish?), we could spell "Gingee" as "Jin-ji" or "Jin-gee". Oh Sweet Eru - I hope "Jin-ji" means "Little Red Pusscat" in Manadarin! (I certainly doesn't mean anything orrible! )

Re: Lolcats thread!
Sounds like a good name! Let's hope Mrs Figg doesn't come demanding royalties, though.

My handsome Real man friend's wife would be quite offended by a name like "Tevildo", Eldo. I'm sure she'd find it saucy. Illvatar knows, I do! Which is not to say that I could twist anything, no matter how innocent, into something saucy. No way.

You are quite welcome to the name Ginger Meggs, if its a girl pussy that is, if its a boy pussy why not call him Rufus, which if I am not mistaken means red in some long forgotten language.

Re: Lolcats thread!
I have 3 cats out of which 2 had to be rescued from the toilet bowl as kittens! I dunno how cats survived this long in nature with their strong curiousty and seeming complete obliviousness to danger.

Re: Lolcats thread!
It has to be said there are few things in life as pathetic and wretched as a completely soaked cat. Its almost worth dunking them just to see the looks on their faces!

Our Ginger Megs has fallen twice in the bath. Does she never learn.

Re: Lolcats thread!
My wife said to spray our Ginger with a gentle spray of water to keep her off our kitchen bench. We persisted admirably for days. We now put things away food if we're not present... and even if we are present, at times! The pest! Our daughter took our Burmese(Miscia) with her when she moved out. She only ate dried food. Our new kitty Ginger would eat chairs if she could!

Re: Lolcats thread!
That is wrong, but true. Our cats sometimes have similar reactions, although it's usually when the two of them are together.
Re: Lolcats thread!
Oh cute!
We once had a wild rabbit we reared from a kitten (?) and it made friends with our cat. They used to chase each other up and down the yard. It was a boy rabbit. One day it gave birth in my brother's bed. At first we thought it was a miracle. But then we realized it was a boy rabbit. (These things are always obvious once you know! )

Re: Lolcats thread!
This doesnt actually have a cat in it- but it does have a lucky rabbit- pic requires this brief account first;
"A LUCKY bunny had it away with 10 lady rabbits after a prankster stuck him in an all-female colony at an animal centre. Shocked staff discovered him the next morning — sparked out after a night of rabbit passion."
