as I said, you haven't experienced mass immigration therefore its all lovely and rainbows. try walking down streets and whole zones that seems like full on Islamabad. you live there and tell me you are still in your own country. you hear the wailing of the minaret and the tower of Babel languages, all the women in full black burkahs and tell me it doesn't make you uncomfortable. its cultural colonization. you live in an area where theres one gay in the village and one nice Mr Abdul from the corner shop. you haven't a clue. It depends on whether they also consider themselves loyal british subjects. Here we have our Chinatowns, I live in a strip that's basically the Dominican Republic, but they also feel that they are Americans. The variety adds rather than detracts - we would never want to push them out.

it does depend on whether they are integrated and feel themselves to be British, but a lot don't even speak English. They also want to impose Sharia law. which is ludicrous. Theres probably two sides to this, on one hand the colourful friendly Brixton festival side of things where its all rainbow peoples, love and peace, and on the other its zones of utter degradation where honour killings are every day occurrences and police wont touch them for fear of being called racist.

If they're doing honor killings they don't belong, plain and simple.  There's definitely lines to be drawn. Of course this is likely a very small segment, but the fact that there's not such a sense of taboo and horror to make such things socially off limits indicates a serious problem.

I also lived for a period in Cessnock in Glasgow- a predominantly Indian/Pakistani area where we used to joke you had to walk a mile to see another white face- I  never had a problem- I was much more offended by the Orange Parade that went by every Sunday and upset my buckie hangover Mad
At my new job there are more foreigner workers than native Scots, we have Hungarian, German, Polish, Cambodian, Ghanian, even English- and all the better for it in my view.

I've always been surrounded by immigrants and loved it, but if it gets to the point of honor killings I may change my mind.

He's already doing twice O'Malley's numbers in Iowa without even announcing (and even more nationally). Laughing

I still can't read about Joe Biden without thinking of The Onion's "Diamond Joe", but yeah, he's the gaffiest of gaffe candidates on the Democratic side. The Gaffer, if you will.

Biden is topping polls in general election match-ups. I don't really understand where all this love for Biden is coming from. Apart from a few gaffs, and his required presence in the VP debates, he's been pretty much absent for the past 8 years.

With Trump and Carson leading, both who make outlandish statements, and Jeb Bush trailing who makes sober statements, it really tells you where the republican party is. These are reactionaries, not thinkers.

I really hoped Ben Carson with all his scientific background would be more reasoned, but he's taken a faith-based approach to most things.

After looking more closely I have to modify that statement on Ben Carson.  He's taken a faith-based approach on some issues, but on others his views seem a bit reasonable:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/ben-carson-believe-candidate-stands-10-issues/

I think the 'flat tax' could work if you first subtract the minimum living standard before calculating tax, but eliminating the IRS is definitely outlandish. Allowing immigrants in if they can prove they have a job is quite reasonable, but logistically asking them to leave first may not work. (Trump could do it with a wave of his hand, of course.)

I'm definitely sure that plays a part in it, but from what I've been hearing on the right the rationale seems to be: "for the last two elections we were told to play it safe and nominate the "mainstream" candidate that the party elites told us would win the election. Both of those failed tremendously so now we need an "outsider."

But based on what we've seen from these candidates, there's no way they're going to pick up enough independents to win the White House.

I think Trump may pick up some surprising crossover votes. Not enough to win the white house, perhaps, but as I said I don't trust even myself to override my darker instincts if I see his name on the ballot. The prospects of seeing him in the middle of a global shouting match is just too tempting.
