Excellent little vid from Babelcolour that puts together the history of the Time War (although there is the odd occasional visual in it- pretty sure I spotted the nurses form Silent Hill filling in for the Skaro Degredations!) but other than that an excellent piecing together of the history of the war across classic. BF and NuWho.
This is part 1-

I have to admit I was not a huge Torchwood fan. I may never forgiven them for the cyberwoman episode. Mad However I thought it hit gold after the series finished and they did the special Children of Earth, it was like a Quatermass for the modern age, it was spot on in that tradition of British Scifi.
And then Miracle Day happened Evil or Very Mad

http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/russell-t-davies-interested-in-writing-a-doctor-who-movie-71219.htm

Cue random musing, do you think a modern Who film would work/be successful?

I'm in two minds about a film, I don't want attention and money drawn away from the TV series, and I wouldn't want another Peter Cushing (i.e. separate continuity) situation, the BBC probably couldn't fund the whole thing itself and at the risk of sounding ageist...Capaldi probably wouldn't be a selling point for a blockbuster film (another risk I suppose, Dr Who isn't really a 'blockbuster' franchise i.m.o), John Hurt and Eccleston are much bigger names but unlikely to return...(though I suppose it would be a good way to fit in some more Mcgann on screen...)

If the ratings stay as consistent as they have for the last few years, I wouldn't be surprised if the BBC did consider doing a film or two, Davies would obviously be a good choice as a creative consultant or writer, though it's a little odd he refuses to return to the TV series but seems open to a film (apparently).

There was a rumour a few years ago David 'Mrs Figg loves my Potter films Wink' Yates was developing a standalone film seperate to the continuity of the TV series, this was later (apparently) nixed by Moffat, though it does raise a interesting point, the Film would have to be more standalone and cinematic than its TV counterpart, with a big story to boot...

Any thoughts?

I wonder if RTD is somwehwta regretting leaving Who- afterall he has to watch as its get bigger and bigger and Moffat and co go on World Tours and get treated like rock stars.

Also this bit of musing combined with him reforming his old production and writing/directing team from Who to do Torchwood on radio does slightly smack of looking backwards not forwards.

I think they did well- better than I would have- finished filming one day, bunged onto a plane the next and then for the next week or so hotel to hotel, venue to venue and lots of flying.
And you have to turn up and look all happy and pleased to be there when you arrive.
Not sure my crabbit would let that happen! Evil or Very Mad

Did you watch the world tour vid above? I do like the fact Moffat keeps an eye on fan created stuff- not just using a fan created youtube intro for the new series and getting the person on board, but studio tours and behind the scenes stuff to people who have made really good original Who stuff online.

I also likes when Moffat talks about how the show just gets some people and refers to himself as 'its worst victim'.

Musing over whether RTD regrets leaving Who smacks itself of self-congratulation that Moffat has won this imaginary contest you two perpetuate! Mad

Anyway, I started the Brain of Morbius. I literally only started it (I've seen about 10 minutes) but I quite liked the Doctor's little anti-Time Lord rant at the beginning. "Having me do their dirty work!"
His dislike of Time Lord politics and such is an interesting and enjoyable aspect of the show that I never got to see in the new stuff, for obvious reasons.

I actually think they get on very well. But I do sometimes find RTD's comments at odds with his actions- in a recent interview for example he said that he was a huge fan of what Moffat had done and that he had long since moved on from Who- whilst at the same time he is reassembling his old Who team to go make episodes of a Who spin off.

I like Brain of Morbius- Sarah Jane is at her best in that one Nod

When's the next Who episode? I am trying to muster the will to care. I'm disappointed that Clara didn't leave. I actually thought, dumb as I am, that we were getting a dignified goodbye with old!Clara having had a good and long life. But I forgot that being old is the worst crime you can commit in Moffats Whoniverse and must be undone (Clara), left to commit suicide (Amy) or proven to be not suffering from *actual* disgusting human old age (12).

'Oh you are wrong cause 11 got ridiculously brilliantly old! So Moff loves old geezers.'
11 got really old and wrinkly so we'd pity him.

I think I am about as disillusioned as Petty is delusional. Wink
