I think maybe should have at least got a nod for the song, but that's it IMO. I find it hysterical how up in arms some people are getting cause it didn't get many nominations. But really (again)IMO, it doesn't deserve that many compared to the competition it's up against

The Oscars deserve to our scorn for a lot of reasons, but "snubbing" The Hobbit is not one of them IMO.

It's like the reaction of a spoiled brat when they get their toys taken away. ROTK did not deserve all the Oscars it won, it only set an expectation that any PJ Middle-earth movie should receive many nominations. They can't see past the end of their nose, and realize what these movies really are, they just bash the Academy Awards (which they certainly weren't doing in 2004).

What did everyone expect ?
These guys slag the likes of us off because we want only what the Prof wrote represented on screen, using his words. They are simply desperate to have any kind of Middle Earth shown even if its what was bastardised by PJ and the Coven. Jacko himself ranted about overstuffed FX Movies, and he made 3 ! He added Tauriel so that 8 year old girls could have a role model ! The Academy simply took him at his word, and blew him out. Or indeed, as I think, he put the shotgun in his mouth and pulled his own trigger.

well technically Phillipa Boyens added Towelrile so that 8 year old girls had a role model and Jackson's balls are in Fran's tallking purse must be cause he couldn't tell her no.

I can't recall ever seeing or reading any indication that Jackson and Boyens have significantly differing artistic sensibilities or that Jackson would have opposed the idea of Tauriel or the reasons for her creation.

The original concept of a female elf being a character was in the scripts for GDT, Itaril or whatever she was called then.
