Re: Music [3]
Purchased tickets to A Christmas Story: The Musical, which is playing at the Ordway, for my parents as a Christmas present. I've been listening to the soundtrack album the past couple days, it's really good music, even better if you're a fan of the movie.

Re: Music [3]
Haha, awesome! I just found out that the bleak "Rains of Castamere" version that we hear sung at the end of... Blackwater was it? Well, anyway, it was an awesome end to the episode I remember thinking, and it turns out that the group who did it was the National, who I had posted some songs of theirs before in this same thread.
Quite the coincidence, eh? Here for comparison:

Very cool I listen to The National quite alot a while back, and still listen to 4 or 5 songs frequently. Great band, will have to listen to that version of Castamere again

And I liked that penguin video!
Reminded me a bit of Calvin and Hobbes, but with a nice Calvin and more affectionate Hobbes. (In other words, how parents want to see their children. )

Re: Music [3]
This album is pretty amazing.
Following his break-up with his girlfriend at the time, as well as the break-up of his previous band DeYarmond Edison, Justin Vernon, suffering from mononucleosis, secluded himself in a cabin in Medford, Wisconsin for three months planning to "hibernate." Three months of solitude resulted in the creation of For Emma, Forever Ago. "All of his personal trouble, lack of perspective, heartache, longing, love, loss and guilt that had been stockpiled over the course of the past six years, was suddenly purged into the form of song."
All the basic tracks for the record were done by Justin Vernon in the cabin, with a few additional instruments (for example the horns on For Emma) added later; "despite its complexity, the record was created with nothing more than a few microphones and some aged recording equipment."

May not be everyone's cup of tea but I love the fantasy element in the video, this band is one of my all time favorites. Plus I think it's pretty cool I grew up near their current drummer in NY state
