Re: Music [3]
Out of curiosity I looked up the phrase in your avatar Bungo.
This must be the source I suppose?
Eldo, just listen to bluegrass or something. Same thing basically.

I'm not so sure, I've got an exam coming up next week, which means I'll not have much time to read fiction for a little while

My brother is a big bluegrass fan, actually, so I've heard a bit from him. And Ringo on here introduced me to Gangstagrass.

Re: Music [3]
They're great, definitely.
I haven't watched Justified, but it's on my list of cable shows to get to (after The Sopranos and the rest of Breaking Bad).

Re: Music [3]
Can't blame you for that, The Sopranos and Breaking Bad share the top spot on my list of favourite TV shows

I don't know what the video is, but I heard this again in a documentary recently and liked it a lot.

Have always loved Backstreet Boys and all their songs (keep listening to them in re-play mode). Another band which I'm growing to like more is Westlife - recently came across this song of theirs called Seasons in the Sun - and it's beautiful.

Re: Music [3]
singing this in the school choir (162 peepz). it kinda reminds me a bit of tolkien.. it has a very modernistic lyrics (this is in latin, but there is an english translation in the sheet music) also some bits reminds me of elves. like the passing of them. like an era is over, it's sort of sad..
Re: Music [3]
I like that, it does have a melancholy feel to it, its also a bit otherwordly.
Will we get to see or hear your choir sing it?

Re: Music [3]
Okay, i have a confession to make.
I was sitting in a restaurant having brunch, when a fairly interesting rap song came on. It had exciting background, the vocal delivery was varied; far from setting my teeth on edge I almost enjoyed it. I found myself thinking "if this is the direction rap goes, if it evolves like this, I may actually develop some respect for it". I took out my phone and pressed the Shazam button (for those who don't know, the Shazam app will identify popular music).
Kanye West.
Yes, the egomeister himself. I'd heard other stuff by him which I thought was just bland, prettified. This actually showed some talent.
Anyway, there you go Eldo. I've admitted there may possibly be some mote of artistic merit in mainstream rap. And I've even admitted it in reference to (*gag*) Kanye West.

Re: Music [3]
I'm glad to hear that you liked the song, Halfy! I think Kanye is extremely talented, ego aside. Out of curiosity, what was the song? He's experimented with a lot of different styles on albums over the past decade, and while I don't like all of those styles equally*, I respect the effort that he puts into keeping things fresh instead of just re-hashing that the same sound over and over. Not that I necessarily dislike artists who keep using the same style -- I'm a big AC/DC fan after all -- but it's always cool to hear something new and different.
*He actually did an entire album of singing via autotune, and while I like some of the songs off it, I don't think it's his strongest work.

Re: Music [3]
I love that one. It's off College Dropout, which is probably my favorite Kanye album, and it always cracks me up. Great beat, too (produced by Kanye himself, who started out as a beat-maker before he began rapping).
