[quote="Pettytyrant101"]{{{Just downloaded the Despecialised edition (2.5 version) of Star Wars A New Hope by Harmy- the aim of it is to bring together all possible sources of original material and restore the 1977 version as was, no editions, but in full HD quality. The work gone into seems quite astounding- wil let you know what I think of it when I've given it watch- got a mate who incredibly has never seen Star Wars before, and has avoided doing so as he wanted to see the 'original'- so will be watching with them some time soonish)}}}

I have watched this before, it really is an amazing work, and at one time had them all on my computer, but had to make room and as I only watched them a couple times and couldn't afford to spare the space. I've since bought the most recent blu-ray release of the original trilogy, and while some changes are annoying, I'm not going to watch them enough to really give a rip.

I heard it was lacking in character development. But I guess that wasn't on the tin.

I'm just about to go see Midnight Special. I'm a big fan of the director because of Mud and Take Shelter. And I like Michael Shannon quite a lot. I actually got my sister to come along, which was surprising. I think that's due to Adam Driver having a role in the film. Anyway, I hope it's good!

Are you talking about the version made in 1979, 2004, or some new movie called Hardcore?

Think they mean the new action movie shot entirely in first person? It's called Hardcore Henry in the US.

That does look interesting, but I'd worry that POV through someone else's eyes would wear you out. Maybe you get used to it.

If you're curious, the guy who directed the movie made some proof of concept music videos with his band illustrating those techniques.

I was grateful it wasn't in 3d! It is a bit different, and I think I might have gotten a bit dizzy if we sat on the front row, but it's.... it's a first person shooting game as a movie, so you know what to expect. I genuinely had fun.

Just saw the movie Everybody Wants Some, made by Richard Linklater, the guy famous for the movie Boyhood. It's an indie, so many, especially overseas, wont know about it, but I recommend you guys check it out. I had problems with Boyhood, BIG problems with it's overall execution and focus, but the fact that this new movie doesn't take place over 12 years, and is a lighthearted comedy certainly helps.

I heard it was similar to Linklater's earlier Dazed and Confused. The trailer was really good, but I don't go to the theatre as often these days, so I might wait and try to catch it on DVD or streaming.

Saw The Jungle Book the other day. It was okay, but felt a little muddled in terms of tone, some relatively dark stuff for a PG release mixed with a few gag inducing cutesy moments. But it is Disney, after all. I wasn't expecting any songs but there are a couple. I don't remember ever watching the cartoon, so I can't compare it to that. The voice actors were good all around, and the kid actor did a good job, but Christopher Walken sticks out like a sore thumb as King Louie.

What was really distracting for me was that most of the movie was dominated by that disgusting "bloom effect" that plagued the Hobbit movies.

RE: Star Wars Bonus Features

I watched some of the bonus features with my brother the other day. The main documentary was pretty good, but it felt like they wanted us to know just how PC they were in their thought process on some things. Of course Captain Chromium's armor shouldn't be sexualized (G. Christie made sure to mention this about three times), it's for military purposes, just as outfits for regular storm troopers have never been sexualized. Jeez, do we really have to walk on egg-shells about these things? What exactly is the point of even bringing that up other than to point out how PC the production's consideration was?

Seeing the Falcon built was cool. Wish they would have talked more about designing some of the sets they used in Pinewood Studios.

The little bit on the music was okay, but didn't reveal much. I like seeing orchestras and composers/conductors in action.

The deleted scenes are pretty pointless, and, like any good deleted scene, wouldn't have added anything to the film.

I didn't watch any of the other stuff.

Having seen some of the bonus features I now feel like I really don't have a reason to buy the movie. Neutral

MAJOR EDIT: I remember now that they show fuckin' PJ touring the inside of the Falcon. I think he single-handedly ruined the documentary for me.

Disney's Tangled was recommended to me by a friend back when it was in theatres almost six years ago, but for one reason or another I never got around to seeing it until tonight when I did so more or less on a whim. I saw and enjoyed the somewhat similar Frozen a couple years ago, but I think I actually like this one better. It was really sweet and funny. I wasn't sure if the lantern scene would live up to expectations but it truly did; they clearly put a lot of work (and money) into that one and it paid off. But more importantly the main characters were really memorable and adorable.
